Overview

GRIX (Korean: 그릭스, formally (주)그릭스 / GRIX Co., Ltd.) is a South Korean company that specialises in electric heating thermostats, room control systems and temperature sensors. Its official website describes it as a thermostat specialist company (온도조절기 전문회사), and its product line is built around the STC series of controllers used for electric underfloor and space heating. The company was established in April 2008. From its early years it combined heating-control hardware with electronics development: in 2008 it developed an IoT Debugger and a wireless video transmission system, and it exhibited at the G-FAIR trade shows in 2009 and 2010. Its core commercial focus, however, became the STC thermostat family. The STC-41 (4 kW) and STC-32 (3 kW) thermostats offer temperature and step control (1–9 steps), scheduling, sensor-failure fallback, over-temperature cut-off and RS-485 communication options. The STC-100 and STC-PGM are centralised room control systems capable of managing up to 128 rooms, with the STC-485 USB dongle linking room thermostats to the STC-PGM software. The company also supplies dry-type and wet-type NTC 5KΩ temperature sensors. GRIX sells mainly into the South Korean building, lodging and heating markets, where centralised room control is used in hotels, motels, dormitories and similar multi-room facilities. Its products are positioned as practical, installation-friendly control hardware rather than consumer smart-home gadgets, with emphasis on relay capacity, power-protection circuits and easy commissioning for installers. The company remains a privately held South Korean SME. Its website carries product brochures, manuals and outline drawings, and it has continued to release new centralised control models, including the STC-14 (2013), STC-42 (2014) and STC-110 (2015).

History

GRIX Co., Ltd. (Korean: (주)그릭스) was established in April 2008 in South Korea. According to the company's own history page, its earliest activities were in electronics development rather than heating controls: in November 2008 it developed and supplied an IoT Debugger, and in December 2008 it developed a wireless video transmission system. It exhibited that wireless video transmission system at G-FAIR 2009 in September 2009, and returned to G-FAIR 2010 in September 2010. The company's thermostat business took shape in parallel. In July 2010 it developed and launched the STC-41 thermostat, a 4 kW electric heating controller. In June 2011 it introduced the STC-100, a centralised room control system supporting up to 128 independent circuits, and in September 2011 it participated in the 27th MBC Architecture Expo. In May 2012 it launched the STC-PGM, a PC-based centralised control program for up to 128 circuits, followed in July 2012 by the STC-32 thermostat. Further centralised control models followed: the STC-14 (14-circuit standalone centralised system) in June 2013, the STC-42 thermostat in May 2014, and the STC-110 (128-circuit standalone centralised system) in April 2015. Across this period the company built a product family spanning room thermostats, central controllers, communication dongles and temperature sensors, marketed under the STC brand. GRIX's products are aimed at electric heating installations and multi-room facilities. The STC-41 and STC-32 thermostats provide temperature and step control, scheduling, sensor-failure fallback, over-temperature protection and optional RS-485 communication; the STC-100 and STC-PGM central systems manage up to 128 rooms, with the STC-485 USB dongle feeding room data to the STC-PGM software. The company also supplies dry-type and wet-type NTC 5KΩ sensors. The company remains a privately held South Korean SME. Its website continues to serve as the main product and support channel, offering manuals, brochures and outline drawings for the STC series.
