GT's Living Foods

GT's Living Foods produces a collection of live, functional formulas and diverse natural flavors, with brands including Synergy, Alive, Agua de Kefir, COCOYO, Immortal, and Classic Kombucha. The company states it has been making living foods for 30 years, authentically fueled by plants, raw fermentation, naturally occurring probiotics, and ancient wisdom. Its story began with a teenage GT Dave, who, inspired by his mother's experience, began bottling small batches of kombucha in his family's Southern California kitchen in 1995 and later that year sold his first two cases of Original to Erewhon, an LA health food store.

The story of GT's begins with a young man on a mission. Witnessing the effects of kombucha firsthand, a teenage GT Dave realized his purpose to share the gift of kombucha in its purest, most potent form. In 1994, GT's mom, Laraine, was diagnosed with a highly aggressive form of breast cancer and drank the family's pungent home-brewed kombucha throughout her journey to recovery. Inspired by his mother's experience, in 1995 GT began bottling his small batches in the kitchen of his family's Southern California home; later that year he sold his first two cases of Original to Erewhon, an LA health food store, making him the first to put kombucha on shelves in the U.S. In 1996 GT introduced his first flavored kombucha and expanded to sell his bottles in more Los Angeles health food stores. In 1997 GT launched his new SYNERGY line of kombucha made with real fruit juices and purees, including Cosmic Cranberry, Strawberry Serenity, and Mystic Mango. In 1999 GT started selling his kombucha in Whole Foods stores across California. In 2005 GT expanded and moved into a larger brewing facility in order to begin national distribution. In 2010 GT introduced his new Enlightened line (now part of SYNERGY)—a reformulation of the original formula, which he now calls CLASSIC. In 2015 GT's Kombucha celebrated its 20th anniversary and debuted a special seasonal offering, Sharing Gratitude. In 2016 GT expanded his offerings to include COCOYO, a raw living coconut yogurt.
