Overview
Gunvor Group Ltd ("Gunvor") is described in its own reporting as one of the world's leading independent commodities trading companies. Its business centers on physical commodities trading — the actual movement of goods such as oil, natural gas, metals and the components of plastics and medicines largely by seagoing vessels. Gunvor states that it has more than 100 vessels at sea every day, moving safely between the major ports of the world, and that it creates logistics solutions that safely and efficiently move commodities from where they are sourced and stored to where they are demanded most. Its trading activities include crude oil, gasoline, middle distillates, naphtha, LPG, LNG, natural gas, power, biofuels, bitumen and base oils, base metals, and circular products such as tyre pyrolysis oil, plastic pyrolysis oil and circular naphtha. Reported figures include 2,000 employees, liquids volumes of 3.2 million b/d, revenue of US $144 billion and volumes of 253 million MT. Gunvor Group announced a management-led buy-out from existing ownership, with Gary Pedersen appointed Group CEO to lead the employee-owned company going forward.
History
Gunvor Group announced the successful acceptance of a management-led buy-out offer of the company from existing ownership. Gary Pedersen was appointed Group CEO and will lead the employee-owned company going forward. Updates to the company's leadership, along with structural and governance changes, were to be announced in due course. Gunvor Group Ltd reported financial information for the year ended 31 December 2025, including revenue of US $144 billion, volumes of 253 million MT, gross profit of US $1.63 billion, net income of US $104 million (adjusted US $567 million) and equity of US $6.1 billion. Gary Pedersen, Chairman & CEO of Gunvor Group, stated that throughout most of 2025 the energy markets remained structurally tight yet politically volatile, with trading margins driven less by fundamental supply and demand imbalances and more by navigating fragmentation, sanctions, and regional dislocations in flows, and that by year end constructive volatility picked up, with November and December proving to be Gunvor's strongest period.
Products and positioning
One of the world's leading independent commodities trading companies, focused on the physical movement of commodities.
Circular Products
Gunvor's Circular Products trading focuses on tyre pyrolysis oil, plastic pyrolysis oil and circular naphtha. Pyrolysis oil is made through the chemical recycling of waste plastics or waste tyres, and is processed through the petrochemical industry for the production of naphtha and other petrochemical products. Circular naphtha can serve as a feedstock in chemical manufacturing or other industrial applications, reducing reliance on virgin fossil fuel resources.
