Overview

Gustav Schramm GmbH, trading as Schramm Verpackung, is a German packaging wholesaler headquartered in Bremen and founded in 1912. It describes itself as a specialist and system supplier for packaging, with a history of more than 100 years in the trade. The company began as a Hanseatic trading house and has grown into one of the largest and best-known packaging dealers in Germany, according to its own account. The product world spans cartons, films, adhesive tapes, bags and sacks, paper and paperboard, filling materials, shipping packaging, load securing, pallets, VCI corrosion protection, and machines and packing stations. Schramm positions itself as a full-range supplier that combines individual advice with a broad catalogue, so customers can source transport and storage packaging from a single partner. It emphasizes manufacturer-independent consulting, tailored packaging concepts, and compliance with the requirements of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). The company operates locations in Bremen, Waldheim in Saxony, Wülfrath in North Rhine-Westphalia and Grünstadt in Rhineland-Palatinate, with a nationwide field sales force in Germany. Its stated ambition is to become known as an innovative and sustainable packaging partner across the entire DACH region. A digital customer platform called "mein Schramm" supports its digitalization push, and a separate platform, Verpackung.de, was announced to launch in mid-2025. Gustav Schramm GmbH remains a family business, now led by the third generation. Sören Hadeler became CEO on 1 July 2024, succeeding his father Jens Hadeler, who had taken over management from his father Hans-Ernst in 1991. The leadership team also includes Sonja Ormeloh as COO and Ariane Loeck as CFO. The company's Vision 2030 is framed as "Digital. Modern. Climate-neutral."

History

Gustav Schramm GmbH was founded in 1912 in Bremen as a Hanseatic trading house. Over more than a century it developed from a small trading operation into a packaging wholesaler and system supplier. The company states that it has stood for tailored solutions, high quality and continuous innovation for over 100 years. Leadership passed through the Hadeler family. Hans-Ernst Hadeler led the firm before handing over to his son Jens Hadeler, who took over the management of what was then still a small Hanseatic trading house "Gustav Schramm" in 1991. Under Jens Hadeler, the company expanded into new regions and grew into one of the most significant packaging wholesalers in Germany. The company also began modernizing early, replacing typewriters with computers in the early 1990s. On 1 July 2024, after 33 years, Jens Hadeler handed over to his son Sören Hadeler, marking the third generation of family leadership. Sören Hadeler leads the company together with Sonja Ormeloh (COO) and Ariane Loeck (CFO). The headquarters remains in Bremen, the Free Hanseatic City, and the company preserves a piece of local history through a restored Goliath GD 750, an original Bremen automobile that was the firm's first company car. The company operates from Bremen as well as Waldheim in Saxony, Wülfrath in North Rhine-Westphalia and Grünstadt in Rhineland-Palatinate, supported by a nationwide field sales force. It has pursued digitalization, including a digital customer platform called "mein Schramm" and remote working capabilities that allowed it to keep serving customers during the pandemic. A new platform, Verpackung.de, was announced to start in mid-2025. The company's Vision 2030 is "Digital. Modern. Climate-neutral."
