History

Gut Aiderbichl states that it began in 2001 as a single sanctuary (Gnadenhof) and developed into a Europe-wide animal-welfare community with over 30 farms in six countries. Michael Aufhauser laid the foundation in Henndorf with a vision of a human-animal relationship on equal footing. Together with Dieter Ehrengruber, Gut Aiderbichl became a driving force for animal welfare. In 2003, Aufhauser succeeded in giving animals constitutional status in the province of Salzburg. The organization marks 25 years of animal welfare.
