Overview
Hagiohr is a Croatian specialist and popular bimonthly journal dedicated to anthropological medicine and hagiotherapy, described as the Croatian model of spiritual health. The publication was founded in 2007 by the Zagreb branch of the Prayer and the Word Community (Zajednica Molitva i Riječ) under the title Glas hagioterapije (Voice of Hagiotherapy), a journal for moral transformation and hagiotherapy. Its first editor-in-chief was Željka Kolar. In 2008 Teovizija became co-publisher, and in 2009 the journal was renamed Hagiohr: hagioterapija – hrvatski model duhovnog zdravlja, with the Centre for Spiritual Help (Centar za duhovnu pomoć) as publisher. Željka Karadakić became editor-in-chief in 2011, and from 2012 the publisher was the Association for the Promotion of Hagiotherapy – Hagiohr. That same year the title was changed to Hagiohr: časopis o antropološkoj medicini-hagioterapiji (Hagiohr: Journal on Anthropological Medicine-Hagiotherapy). In 2014 the Tomislav Ivančić Foundation became publisher. Anđela Krivić served as editor-in-chief in 2019 and Anđela Čale in 2020. The journal is published bimonthly and its contributors include leaders of centres for anthropological medicine and hagiotherapy, hagioassistants, physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, pedagogues, theologians, professors, educators, special education teachers, pharmacists and social workers. Its mission is stated as: "We must wrap the world in words of life so that people may again attain happiness" (St. Maximilian Kolbe). Hagiohr is considered a phenomenon in print media because it writes only positive things and aims to make its readers feel more human, understand the essence of life, enter into meaning and be reminded of what love is. Although it deals with topics such as the science of the spirit or diagnosis and therapy for the spiritual realm, it fully enters into human everyday life by writing about family, upbringing, youth, communication and culture, and by bringing hagiotherapeutic remedies and the invaluable experiences of those who have applied them. The journal is closely tied to the Tomislav Ivančić Foundation, established on 3 May 2010 as the legal framework for allocating assets to the moral and ethical transformation of man and society, and more specifically to building the material future of anthropological medicine and hagiotherapy. In 2020 the foundation was renamed the Tomislav Ivančić Foundation. Since August 2014 the foundation has been the publisher of the bimonthly journal on anthropological medicine – hagiotherapy, Hagiohr, as well as Ana Perišić's manual Hagiotherapeutic Approach in Work and Coexistence with Children and Youth. The editions can be purchased in the bookstores of Verbum, Teovizija, Josip Turčinović and Sv. Antun and at Hagiotherapy Centres. The foundation is working on expanding its publishing activities and purchasing publishing rights from Teovizija and publishing the Professor's books. The journal's online presence at hagio.hr offers articles, further reading to inspire hagiopatients, texts from hagioassistants, and information about seminars of New Evangelization and the Community of Prayer and the Word (ZMR). The website guarantees the authenticity of data provided by the centres that supply texts. Hagiohr thus functions both as a print periodical and as a digital platform for the promotion of hagiotherapy and anthropological medicine in Croatia.
History
Hagiohr originated in 2007 when the Zagreb branch of the Prayer and the Word Community (Zajednica Molitva i Riječ) published several issues of Glas hagioterapije: časopis za moralnu preobrazbu i hagioterapiju (Voice of Hagiotherapy: Journal for Moral Transformation and Hagiotherapy). The first editor-in-chief was Željka Kolar. From the following year, Teovizija became co-publisher. In 2009 the journal changed its name to Hagiohr: hagioterapija – hrvatski model duhovnog zdravlja (Hagiohr: Hagiotherapy – Croatian Model of Spiritual Health), and the publisher became the Centre for Spiritual Help (Centar za duhovnu pomoć). Željka Karadakić became editor-in-chief in 2011, and from 2012 the publisher was the Association for the Promotion of Hagiotherapy – Hagiohr. Its contributors include leaders of centres for anthropological medicine and hagiotherapy, hagioassistants, physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, pedagogues, theologians, professors, educators, special education teachers, pharmacists and social workers. The mission of the journal is always the same: "We must wrap the world in words of life so that people may again attain happiness" (St. Maximilian Kolbe). Hagiohr is a phenomenon in print media because it writes only positive things and achieves that its readers feel more human, understand the essence of life, enter into meaning and are reminded of what love is. The Tomislav Ivančić Foundation, established on 3 May 2010, provides the legal and organisational framework. It was originally called the ZTI Foundation – Hagiotherapy Dr. T. Ivančić, and in 2020 it was renamed the Tomislav Ivančić Foundation. Its objectives include organising and conducting professional lectures, seminars, forums, conferences and similar content; supporting the construction and organisation of an international centre and associated facilities for scientific research and therapeutic work; research into the anthropological dimension of man and the development of anthropological medicine within which the method of hagiotherapy focuses on the basic healing of man; the moral and ethical transformation of man and society; training of research and therapeutic staff; providing support for the construction of the Founder's central home; providing support for the construction of memorial chapels and monuments; and publishing and promotional activities to contribute to and fulfil the purpose of the Foundation. Since August 2014 the Foundation has been the publisher of the bimonthly journal on anthropological medicine – hagiotherapy, Hagiohr, and of Ana Perišić's manual Hagiotherapeutic Approach in Work and Coexistence with Children and Youth.
