Overview

Hai Robotics is a Chinese warehouse automation company founded in 2016. It is best known for pioneering the Automated Case-handling Mobile Robot (ACR), a category of mobile robot that retrieves and moves cases, totes and cartons rather than whole pallets. Building on that invention, the company developed the HaiPick Systems family, a modular line of Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS) that deliver goods-to-person workflows for warehouses and fulfilment centres. The HaiPick approach is deliberately modular: rather than a fully customised, one-off installation, Hai Robotics assembles systems from a catalogue of pre-engineered robots, software packages and structures, and can incorporate almost any industry-standard racking and storage materials. This lets facilities start small and reconfigure, expand or even relocate systems as their needs change. The lineup includes HaiPick Climb, HaiPick System 1, HaiPick System 2 and HaiPick System 3, covering high-reach, high-density storage, bulk and mixed-type storage, and maximum-density high-throughput applications. The company's robots, such as the multi-layer HaiPick A42 ACR, handle plastic totes and carton boxes, can pick and store cases up to about 6 metres high, and can handle multiple cases simultaneously. Hai Robotics markets its systems on throughput, efficiency, labour savings, storage density and picking accuracy, and serves industries including apparel retail, third-party logistics (3PL), healthcare, automotive, e-commerce, electronics and grocery. According to the company, HaiPick Systems support facilities in more than 40 countries and regions through over 1,700 systems, with 8 offices across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia and more than 60 partners globally. Hai Robotics remains a private company and positions itself as a critical automation partner for facilities of all sizes, from small businesses to the world's biggest retailer.

History

Hai Robotics was established in 2016. From its early years the company focused on automating warehouse operations and order fulfilment, and it pioneered the Automated Case-handling Mobile Robot (ACR), a robot category that opened new possibilities for warehouse automation by handling cases and totes rather than only pallets. Building on the ACR concept, Hai Robotics developed a modular approach to Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS), which it branded as the HaiPick Systems family. Instead of treating each warehouse as a fully bespoke engineering project, the company assembled systems from a catalogue of advanced robotic equipment, software packages and structures, and designed them to work with almost any industry-standard racking and storage materials. This modularity was intended to deliver tailored results without the complexity and cost of full customisation, and to allow systems to be redesigned, expanded or relocated as customer needs change. The HaiPick lineup grew to include four base systems: HaiPick Climb, HaiPick System 1, HaiPick System 2 and HaiPick System 3. HaiPick System 1 became the company's cornerstone high-reach, high-density solution; System 2 added bulk and mixed-type storage capability; System 3 targeted maximum storage density, speed and flexibility for high-throughput applications; and HaiPick Climb was positioned as a simplified, high-performance evolution of traditional AS/RS with quick deployment and minimal floor requirements. Alongside the systems, Hai Robotics developed a catalogue of robots, including the multi-layer HaiPick A42 ACR series, which can pick and store cases up to about 6 metres high and handle multiple cases at once. By the time of the company's own account of its development, HaiPick Systems were supporting facilities in more than 40 countries and regions through over 1,700 systems. Hai Robotics reported 8 offices across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia and more than 60 partners globally, providing local support. Its customer base spans e-commerce, 3PL, apparel, healthcare, food and beverage, grocery, manufacturing and automotive. The company remains privately held and continues to market its modular goods-to-person automation to facilities ranging from small businesses to the world's biggest retailer.

Products and positioning

  • HaiPick Climb

A simplified, high-performance evolution of traditional AS/RS, eliminating costly complexity while delivering superior efficiency and scalability. It offers simple implementation and quick go-live with minimal floor requirements, fast 30-minute training, order fulfilment in under 2 minutes (34% faster than typical ASRS systems), high throughput of 4,000 totes outbound per hour in 1,000 square metres, storage up to 12 metres with 6x storage density, and capacity of up to 45,000 totes in a 1,000 square-metre facility.

  • HaiPick System 1

The cornerstone goods-to-person solution, providing high-reach, high-density inventory storage and retrieval for fast, accurate fulfilment.

  • HaiPick System 2

Offers all the benefits of System 1 with added bulk and mixed-type storage capability.

  • HaiPick System 3

Provides maximum storage density, speed and flexibility for high-throughput applications.

  • HaiPick A42 ACR

A multi-layer Autonomous Case-handling Robot series offering picking and storage of cases up to 6 metres (19.7 feet) high. The series consists of four models handling a wide range of case dimensions and types, compatible with plastic totes and carton boxes. With multiple storage trays it can handle up to 9 cases simultaneously. It supports separate and mixed picking, allows reuse of existing racks and totes, can be deployed in part of a warehouse and scaled up, and is CE+NRTL certified.
