Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, Hailiang Group is a comprehensive private enterprise group with core businesses in education, intelligent manufacturing of non-ferrous materials, and eco-agriculture. Hailiang Group was founded in 1989 in Zhejiang Province, China, during the early years of China's reform and opening-up. It grew from a small private enterprise into a diversified conglomerate, benefiting from Zhejiang's early economic development and the broader market reforms. The group's headquarters are located in Binjiang District, Hangzhou. Over the decades, Hailiang expanded into multiple industries, including education, non-ferrous metal processing, and ecological agriculture. Its subsidiary Hailiang Education Group became the first Chinese basic education group listed in the United States, while Hailiang Co., Ltd. (Hailiang Shares) grew into a global leader in copper tube and bar processing, with production bases across Asia, the Americas, and Europe. By 2019, the group reported operating revenue of 187.9 billion yuan and ranked 468th on the Fortune Global 500 list, 117th among China's top 500 enterprises, and 24th among China's top 500 private enterprises. In recent years, Hailiang has focused on three core sectors: education, non-ferrous material intelligent manufacturing, and ecological agriculture, while also expanding into health and biotechnology. The group operates in 13 countries and regions with a global marketing network and more than 24,000 employees. It has received public recognition, including the 13th China Charity Award in 2026. The group continues to be led by its founder, Feng Hailiang, as chairman of the board.

  Hailiang Co. deputy GM Wang Sheng cashes out without pre-disclosure, warned by Zhejiang securities regulator

  Wang Sheng, deputy general manager of Hailiang Co. under Hailiang Group, reduced his holdings in the company and cashed out about 1 million yuan without pre-disclosing the reduction plan as required, and received a warning letter from the Zhejiang Securities Regulatory Bureau; in addition, Hailiang Co. and its subsidiaries had received environmental penalties for wastewater discharge, hazardous waste management, and construction before environmental impact assessment approval.
