History
Hamburgische Schiffbau Versuchsanstalt / the Hamburg Ship Model Basin (HSVA) is a private, self-supporting, not-for-profit organisation providing research and consultancy services to the worldwide maritime industry. With its sophisticated experimental research facilities HSVA has been among the world's leading ship model basins since its foundation in 1913. Based on pioneering contributions from scientists and engineers, HSVA developed an intricate understanding of all problems in ship and offshore hydrodynamics, aerodynamics and arctic technology. In addition to its experimental facilities HSVA has pioneered maritime CFD development and applications for a long time. Research plays an important role for the model basin, and HSVA constantly invests in the development of new technologies and research in maritime hydrodynamics. Since July 2020 HSVA's quality management system is certified.
