Founded in 1900 by Heinrich Koch as a horse-and-wagon haulage business, the company has grown into one of Germany's most versatile logistics firms, employing more than 850 people across fourteen logistics locations. It remains a family-owned business in its operational character, although since the end of 2022 it is no longer led by a family member. The company offers a broad portfolio of logistics services tailored to various industries: national and international road transport, European trucking, sea and air freight, warehouse management, value-added services, and complex outsourcing programs. Additional services include dangerous goods consulting, packaging consulting, and customs clearance. Koch International operates over 350 vehicles, including 100 own trucks, more than 500 swap bodies, and 170 semi-trailers, with approximately 115,000 square meters of logistics space. Koch International is a member of the CargoLine general cargo network, which it co-founded in 1993. The company has continuously invested in modern logistics infrastructure, opening new facilities in 2013, 2019, 2021, and 2023. It also emphasizes sustainability, with initiatives such as a bee colony project, LNG and electric trucks, and social engagement in the Osnabrück region. Today, Koch International is managed by Uwe Fieselmann (Chairman), Heinz-Peter Beste, and Ingmar Reisige. The company remains a significant player in the German logistics market, known for its customized logistics solutions and strong regional roots.

History

Koch International was founded in 1900 by Heinrich Koch from Glane as a horse-and-wagon haulage business. His son Franz and daughter-in-law Paula later took over the business. In 1960, Heinrich Koch and his younger brother Walter Koch assumed leadership, and the company grew into a global logistics provider. In the early 1970s, a new freight forwarding facility was built at the A1 motorway, Osnabrück-Hafen exit, combined with a truck stop. The business expanded through the purchase and rental of several logistics halls. In 1993, seven transport and logistics service providers, including Koch International, founded the CargoLine general cargo network, which now has 53 cooperation partners across Germany. In 2004, the fourth generation took over the company leadership. The brothers Heinrich, Dieter, and Peter Koch secured the succession in the family business. Alongside them, Heinz-Peter Beste and Uwe Fieselmann joined the management. In 2010, the moving department was spun off into an independent company, now Heinrich Koch Internationale Umzugs- und Archivlogistik GmbH. In 2013, Koch International moved into a new corporate headquarters at Fürstenauer Weg with a 15-hectare site, including a modern logistics and transshipment center. From 2014, Heinz-Peter Beste and Uwe Fieselmann, together with managing partner Heinrich Koch, formed the management. Heinrich Koch left on December 31, 2022, making the company no longer owner-managed by a family member. On August 15, 2024, Ingmar Reisige joined as managing director. The management now consists of Chairman Uwe Fieselmann and Managing Directors Heinz-Peter Beste and Ingmar Reisige. The subsidiary Koch Pharmalogistik GmbH was founded in 2018, responsible for the transport and storage of medical products. In 2019, Koch International opened a new logistics center with 10,300 square meters and around 19,000 additional pallet spaces, aiming to expand its e-commerce offering. The new logistics building "Am Tie" in Osnabrück-Lüstringen was commissioned in 2021, specially equipped for the high requirements of pharmaceutical logistics. In 2023, the automated warehouse in Engter was put into operation. Koch International employs over 850 people at fourteen logistics locations. It operates over 350 vehicles, including 100 own trucks, more than 500 swap bodies, and 170 semi-trailers, with approximately 115,000 square meters of logistics space.
