History
The history page of the Heinzel Group records the following milestones: in 1991, with the support of banks and management, Alfred Heinzel bought "Wilfried Heinzel AG" — today's heinzelsales — from his uncle Wilfried. Zellstoff Pöls was acquired in 2000, Biocel Paskov in 2001, and in 2004 a 33% stake was taken in the greenfield investment in the BCTMP pulp mill Estonian Cell. Estonian Cell was commissioned in 2006. In 2010, 75% of Biocel Paskov was sold and Europapier was acquired; in 2011, 100% of Estonian Cell was taken over. In 2012, Europapier acquired the paper wholesale business of PaperlinX in Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia, and the remaining shares in Biocel Paskov were sold. In 2013, the Laakirchen paper mill and 51% of Bunzl & Biach were acquired. In 2014, the new PM2, the Starkraft kraft paper machine in Pöls, had its first full business year, and there was an investment in a biogas plant for Estonian Cell. In 2015, the corrugated base paper mill Raubling and Chiemgau Recycling were acquired at year-end. In 2017, the conversion of Laakirchen's PM10 to corrugated base paper was successfully completed. In 2019, PM3 in Pöls was commissioned. In 2022, Sebastian Heinzel took over the management of the HEINZEL GROUP. In 2024, the HEINZEL GROUP completed the purchase of the Steyrermühl paper mill in Upper Austria from UPM.
