Hempuli Oy

Hempuli Oy is the independent game development studio and personal brand of Finnish developer and artist Arvi "Hempuli" Teikari. Based in Finland, the studio is best known for creating the award-winning puzzle game Baba Is You, in which players rearrange word blocks to rewrite the rules of each level. The official Hempuli website describes itself as the homesite of Arvi "Hempuli" Teikari, who lives in Finland and creates games and artwork. The site notes that it used to be mostly for games but now also hosts art and comics, and that nearly all of the games featured there are "Fueled by Fusion." Hempuli Oy operates as a small independent studio, with Teikari himself serving as the driving creative force behind its games, art, and comics. Its games have been released on major platforms including PC and Nintendo Switch, and Baba Is You in particular has received widespread critical acclaim and multiple industry awards. The studio's output reflects a distinctive, experimental approach to game design, often built around clever mechanics and a playful, hand-drawn aesthetic. Alongside game development, Hempuli maintains a blog and shares art and comics, and the website states that nothing on it is AI-generated.
