Overview
HERMA is a family-owned company founded in 1906 that develops and manufactures self-adhesive materials, labels and labelling machines. Its Self-adhesive Material division supplies label materials (papers and films), adhesives and release liners, and it also offers labels for industry, office and home use as well as labelers and labeling machines for industrial packaging processes.
History
HERMA was founded in 1906 by Heinrich Hermann, who established an independent business with two printing associates and sold his first labels to Daimler in early February of that year. In 1910 seal tags and sausage rings were added to the product range, and a new building was erected in Ulmer Strasse 300. By 1913 embossed labels were selling well throughout Europe and the company opened its first branch office abroad in England. During the First World War, Heinrich Hermann was inducted into service in 1915 and his wife Christine took over business operations; after the war the company was restructured and its first trademark, a signet with a sailing ship, came into being.
