History

Higashio MECH Co., Ltd. was founded in 1950 as Higashio Tsugite Co., Ltd. (東尾継手株式会社) in Kawachi-nagano, Osaka, with Seiichi Higashio as its first president. The company began as a manufacturer of malleable (cast iron) pipe fittings, a core product for steel pipe plumbing of the era. In 1952 it obtained JIS B 2301 approval (No. 1349) for its malleable iron fittings. During the 1960s and 1970s, the company expanded its product line in response to changes in piping technology. In 1967 it issued convertible bonds through Osaka Small and Medium Business Investment & Consultation Co., Ltd. In 1970 it launched epoxy-coated fittings for resin-lined steel pipes, addressing the social problem of red water (rust-contaminated water) from corroded steel pipes. In 1977 it introduced heat-resistant resin-coated fittings for hot-water supply lined steel pipes and entered an OEM partnership with Sekisui Chemical. In 1980 it purchased adjacent land and buildings, and Mitsutsugu Higashio became president. In the 1980s, the company continued to develop anti-corrosion solutions: outer-surface resin-coated fittings for buried pipes in 1984 and pipe-end anti-corrosion fittings to prevent red water in 1986. In 1989 the company changed its name to Higashio MECH Co., Ltd. In 1990 it issued its first secured corporate bonds, and in 1992 it launched heat-resistant pipe-end anti-corrosion fittings. In 1993 it purchased the West Warehouse land and buildings. In 1995 it received the TPM Excellence Award (Category 1). In 1998 the company registered its quality management system under ISO 9001 (JQA-2447). The year 2001 was a major turning point: it launched the Snap resin pipe fitting (a one-touch clamp-ring system) and the Abacus stainless steel pipe fitting (the world's first rolled-thread structure for stainless steel piping), and formed a business alliance with Toyo Valve Co., Ltd. In 2003 it launched the One-Lock fitting for reheating pipes and the Ozzon-kun refrigerant pipe fitting, which enabled completely flameless, safe installation. In 2004 it launched the Ozzon-kun CW-CX for new refrigerants using a rolled-groove method. In 2006 it registered its environmental management system under ISO 14001 (JQA-EM5370). In 2008 it launched the resin pipe header system, and in 2009 the Pile-Fit fitting for residential foundation piles. In 2010 it formed a business alliance with Uponor and launched the Ozzon-kun CZ refrigerant fitting. In 2011 it launched the RTM and MECHFit resin pipe fittings and the Conic Joint for refrigerant and AI pipes. In 2012 Yoshinori Inoue became president, with Mitsutsugu Higashio becoming chairman. In 2013 it launched the Lean Flange loose flange. In 2014 the Ozzon-kun received ISO 14903 third-party certification. In 2015 it launched MECHFit Pb for Korean Pb pipes. In 2016 Seigo Higashio became president; the company launched SmartClick for US resin pipes, Ozzon-kun B and S'B NUT refrigerant fittings. In 2017 it launched the KK Best stainless steel pipe fitting, the Kachitto S resin pipe fitting and the Ozzon-kun S refrigerant fitting, and received the TPM Excellence Award Category A. In 2018 KK Best won the SME Excellent New Technology/New Product Award; the company formed partnerships with REHAU (PX fitting production), Daikin Industries (ASTM copper pipe fitting GT JOINT production) and Takasago Thermal Engineering (aluminium Ozzon-kun), launched the Pikappo resin pipe fitting, began production of gas SUS flexible pipe fittings, signed a volume contract for aluminium Conic Joints with Turkey, and achieved ISO MS Integrated Program Premium Stage. In 2019 it launched the SP Lock steel pipe fitting and PX fitting, and won the Osaka Monozukuri Excellent Company Award (Best Company and Intellectual Property awards). In 2020 Daikin Industries made a capital and business alliance; R-Ozzon received ISO 14903 certification. In 2021 R-Ozzon received JCDA0012 certification, and the company launched the D flareless Joint, R-Ozzon, Quick Piper and TIGHTFIT refrigerant fittings, and the PINC resin pipe fitting for overseas markets. In 2025 the company celebrated its 75th anniversary, started TV commercials in the Kansai and Kanto regions, produced a company introduction video, and held an anniversary ceremony. It was selected as one of the '100 Companies Representing Kawachi'. In 2025 it also debuted the KK Best+ at the Osaka Kanko Kizai Fair.
