Overview

Hirano Tecseed Co., Ltd. is a Japanese industrial machinery manufacturer headquartered in Koshima-hana, Japan. Founded in June 1935 in what is now Hirano-ku, Osaka, as Hirano Metal Goshi Kaisha, a specialist maker of heat exchangers (heaters) and blowers (fans), the company has evolved into a technology enterprise that fuses two core competencies: "heat and air technology" and "coating and line control technology." This combination underpins its proprietary equipment engineering, which it applies to a wide range of production lines. The company's product portfolio centers on coating and drying systems for functional films, flexible substrates, dry film, electronic components, battery electrodes, adhesives, release films and papers, nonwoven fabrics, ceramic sheets, film stretching, carbon fiber prepreg, synthetic leather, hot-melt coating, glass cloth, and multi-purpose coaters. Its equipment is used in applications such as hard coats, anti-glare and anti-reflection films, polarizing plates, transparent conductive films, flexible printed circuits, lithium-ion battery electrodes, MLCCs, and medical transdermal tapes. Hirano Tecseed has been listed on Japanese stock exchanges since 1962, when it listed on the Second Section of the Osaka Securities Exchange. Following the integration of the Osaka exchange into the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 2013, the company moved to the TSE Standard Market in April 2022. It has obtained ISO 9001 (1998) and ISO 14001 (2017) certifications. The company continues to invest in R&D, recently announcing a perovskite solar cell coating machine and opening a new office in 2025.

In March 1939, the company began designing, manufacturing, and selling hot-air dryers, transport equipment, and scientific instruments, applying its research in "heat and air" theory. In April 1947, it developed various dryers with a focus on dyeing and finishing machinery. In March 1957, the company was reorganized as a stock company with capital of 3 million yen and changed its name to Hirano Metal Co., Ltd. Capital increased to 36 million yen in October 1961, and to 100 million yen in April 1962, when it listed on the Second Section of the Osaka Securities Exchange. In November 1998, it introduced CAP coater technology for LCD resist coating from Steag of Germany. In February 1999, a large prototype CAP Coater was installed at the Hirano Technicum. In January 2000, the CAP Coater was commercialized as a photoresist coating system. In June 2000, a continuous Capillary Coater was developed. In March 2001, a small Capillary Coater for R&D was developed. In November 2001, a medium-thick ceramic sheet forming test machine "M-600SF" was installed at the Hirano Technicum. In December 2001, a new Capillary Coater for 5th-generation LCDs was developed. In March 2002, an organic EL light-emitting layer deposition process was developed. In December 2002, thin-film coating technology for environmental barrier films was developed. In May 2008, a laser processing machine was updated. In January 2010, a lithium-ion battery test coater "R800-DB" and a regenerative thermal oxidizer were installed at the Technicum. In October 2010, a surface grinder was added. In August 2012, the head office plant site was expanded. In January 2013, a new painting factory was completed.
