Ho Wah Genting Berhad was established in 1993. In 1994, it was successfully listed on the Second Board of Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) on 28 December with four wholly-owned subsidiaries: Perdagangan Perabot Ho Wah Genting (M) Sdn. Bhd., Ho Wah Genting Coach Manufacturer Sdn. Bhd., Ho Wah Genting Leasing Sdn. Bhd., and Ho Wah Genting Construction Sdn. Bhd. In 1995, it acquired Ho Wah Genting International Ltd, a Singapore listed company involved in marine and oilfield services and the trading of diesel engines, pumps and marine equipment. In 1996, it acquired Ho Wah Genting Travels Sdn Bhd, a company engaged in the travel and tours business. In 1997, it acquired Ho Wah Genting Wire and Cable Sdn Bhd (now known as Ho Wah Genting Trading Sdn Bhd), a company engaged in the manufacturing and trading of wire and cable. In 2000, it acquired Ho Wah Genting Kintron Sdn Bhd, a company engaged in manufacturing of moulded pow[er]... The company traces its origins to Dato’ Lim Hui Boon, who from humble beginnings as a hard working apprentice founded the transportation business that ferried many up to Genting Highlands Resort, leading to Ho Wah Genting Transport & Tours Sdn Bhd.
