Hoi Tin Tong

Hoi Tin Tong is a Hong Kong brand of freshly made turtle jelly (guilinggao). Its founder Ng Yiu-ming began selling medicinal wild game and trading in turtles at 'Hoi Tin Wild Game' on Shanghai Street in Jordan, and after researching the health benefits of guilinggao for his mother, opened the first Hoi Tin Tong fresh-made guilinggao shop on Bowring Street in Jordan in 1991. Within under eighteen years the chain expanded to Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau and overseas. Beyond guilinggao, the company also develops health beverage and nourishing product lines.

Hoi Tin Tong's founder Ng Yiu-ming, in his youth, set up 'Hoi Tin Wild Game' on Shanghai Street in Jordan, selling medicinal wild game and engaging in turtle-related business. In the 1970s, because his mother suffered from a chronic illness, Ng devoted himself to researching the health and wellness benefits of guilinggao; his mother, then under 100 pounds, gradually improved after taking guilinggao and eventually returned to 140-150 pounds. As word spread among friends, many asked Ng to make guilinggao for them, and finding himself unable to cope with demand, he established the first Hoi Tin Tong fresh-made guilinggao shop on Bowring Street in Jordan in 1991. In under eighteen years the chain expanded to Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau and overseas. The company attributes this to Ng's researched guilinggao formulas and the use of fresh turtles and multiple Chinese medicinal herbs, and states that guilinggao can clear heat and toxins, remove bad breath, nourish skin, and improve internal organ function, metabolism, skin damp-toxin, sore throat, mouth ulcers, constipation and stomach discomfort. Besides guilinggao, Hoi Tin Tong also develops health beverage and nourishing product lines.

Marketed as a Hong Kong guilinggao brand using fresh turtles and multiple Chinese medicinal herbs, described as suitable even for weak individuals.
