History
The Holstenhalle, today's Halle 1, was conceived and built in 1939 as a livestock auction hall. During the Second World War it was used for aircraft assembly. After the end of the war, the Holstenhallen were modernised and expanded. Today Halle 1 is listed in the list of cultural monuments in Neumünster. The Stadthalle Neumünster, part of the complex, has been distinguished by modern architecture with an elegant interior since 1986. The Forum, connecting Halls 1 and 2 with Halls 3, 4 and 5, was completed in 2015. In 2022 the Holstenhallen Congress Center (HCC) was opened. Over the decades the site developed into the largest exhibition centre in Schleswig-Holstein and one of the best-known event venues in Northern Germany, hosting trade fairs, livestock shows, classical and pop concerts, sports events, equestrian tournaments and auctions, and a wide range of community and cultural events.
