Hotel Diplomat Stockholm

Hotel Diplomat is an exclusive hotel located on Strandvägen in the heart of Stockholm, with views over Stockholm's waters and close to Stureplan, Norrmalmstorg and Djurgården. It occupies a unique Jugend/Art Nouveau palace and is described as the first hotel in the family-owned Diplomat Collection, which also includes Villa Dagmar and Villa Dahlia. Condé Nast Traveler readers named it one of the best hotels of 2025 in the 'Rest of Europe' category. The building has been a landmark on Strandvägen since 1911.

The history of Hotel Diplomat begins in 1907, during planning for the expansion of the Malmarna at the turn of the last century, when Oscar II expressed a wish for Stockholm to have a parade street. Around 1870 the City of Stockholm began acquiring plots to build Strandvägen; between 1882 and 1883 the first houses were completed. Around 1904 only the area at the current Strandvägen 7 remained to be built on, and thus the Klippan block – Strandvägen 7A, B and C – was erected. Strandvägen 7, built in typical Jugendstil or French 'Art Nouveau', became the most magnificent project along Strandvägen, taking a U-shape with two wings facing the street. The builder was the well-known A. Boström, and the building was therefore called the Boström Palace. The property was divided into 7A, 7B and 7C. The prominent architectural firm H&E – Georg Hagström and Frithiof Ekman – designed more than 200 buildings in Stockholm. 7C was planned as a residential building with six floors, one floor higher than the city plan had previously allowed. The official website states that the hotel has been a landmark on the iconic Strandvägen since 1911.

Exclusive, timeless and elegant hotel experience in a unique Jugend palace.
