Overview
HPC Research is a Czech industrial company specializing in the development and manufacturing of composite pressure cylinders for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), together with the specialized machinery used to produce and test them. Founded in November 2012 as a family business by private investors Pavel and Stanislav Dubinin, the company has grown into a middle-sized organization of over 25 employees with an annual turnover of around €4 million. Its manufacturing facility is located in Milevsko, roughly 75 minutes from Prague, offering highway connectivity to major European markets such as Germany, Austria, Poland and Slovakia. The company reports having been in the market for 15 years and having produced nearly 500,000 LPG cylinders used in more than 50 countries worldwide. HPC Research's core product line is a family of composite LPG cylinders in sizes of 12.7 L, 18.2 L, 24.5 L and 26.2 L, designed for home and leisure uses such as cooking, heating, barbecues, camping and caravanning, as well as industrial and commercial applications including construction sites and fuel vessels for forklift trucks. The cylinders are marketed for their high degree of customization — customers can choose from a wide variety of sizes, colors and valve types. Safety and quality are central to the brand's positioning: the cylinders are certified according to EN 14427, ISO 11119-3, ADR/RID and TPED/PED, and are periodically inspected by TÜV Nord. The company also provides full warranty and post-warranty service, including periodic inspection, refurbishment, repair of damaged cylinders and valve replacement. Beyond standard LPG cylinders, HPC Research develops custom composite cylinders for specific applications, hydro-pneumatic accumulators where weight is critical, and tailor-made carbon fiber fuel tanks and cylinders for aerospace applications. The company also manufactures the hardware used to make composite cylinders, including multi-spindle winding machines, pressure proof testers, valve changing machines, and burst and pressure cycle test machines. Its R&D team has developed and tested several generations of lightweight composite cylinders, and the company has worked on high-pressure cylinders and fuel storage systems for spacecraft. Its fuel tanks have been used in the ION Satellite Carrier of the Italian company D-Orbit as part of a propulsion system, with the company's cylinders first reaching orbit on 24 January 2021 aboard a satellite launched on SpaceX's Transporter-1 rideshare mission. HPC Research operates worldwide, with representatives in Russia, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan. Its head office is in Prague, while production takes place in Milevsko. In December 2025 the company moved into a new 4,000 m² state-of-the-art production facility, a major milestone in its expansion. In 2018 the Indian corporation Supreme Industries acquired a 10 percent stake in the company. HPC Research continues to position itself as a specialist in composite pressure vessel technology, combining in-house development and serial production under one roof.
History
HPC Research was founded in the Czech Republic in November 2012 by private investors Pavel and Stanislav Dubinin, brothers who came from Russia. Pavel Dubinin is a graduate of Bauman Moscow State Technical University. The company was established as a family business and initially operated as a general-purpose equipment manufacturing company before focusing on composite pressure cylinders and the specialized equipment for their production and testing. Between 2012 and 2014 the company developed and patented a design for composite cylinders using PET liner technology. In 2015 it launched serial production of composite cylinders for liquefied petroleum gases. This marked the transition from development to commercial manufacturing, and the company's cylinders began to be used in many countries around the world. In 2018 the Indian corporation Supreme Industries acquired a 10 percent stake in HPC Research, bringing additional industrial backing to the company. In 2020 HPC Research, together with the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, began a project to develop high-pressure cylinders and the technology for their production. The project was partially financed by a grant from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TAČR) under the TREND program. The company's fuel tanks have been used in the ION Satellite Carrier of the Italian company D-Orbit as part of a propulsion system. HPC Research cylinders first reached orbit on 24 January 2021 aboard a satellite placed on SpaceX's Transporter-1 rideshare mission. This represented a significant expansion of the company's applications from terrestrial LPG storage into aerospace fuel systems. By the mid-2020s HPC Research described itself as having been in the market for 15 years and having produced nearly 500,000 LPG cylinders used in over 50 countries worldwide. The company grew into a middle-sized organization of over 25 employees with an annual turnover of around €4 million. In December 2025 it reached a major milestone by moving into a brand-new, 4,000 m² state-of-the-art production facility. Its manufacturing facility is located in Milevsko, approximately 75 minutes from Prague, with excellent highway connectivity to major European markets including Germany, Austria, Poland and Slovakia. The company maintains representatives in Russia, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan, and its head office is in Prague.
