Hudson River Trading (HRT) is a multi-asset class quantitative trading firm that provides liquidity on global markets and directly to clients. HRT describes itself as first and foremost a math and technology company, with engineers and researchers working as one team to solve difficult problems and trade millions of shares a day on the world's financial markets. The firm researches and develops automated trading algorithms using advanced mathematical techniques. HRT's founding partners graduated from Harvard and MIT with degrees in computer science and mathematics, and founded HRT in 2002. The firm grew from origins in US equities to a global, multi-asset class trading firm, and today employs over a thousand people and trades on nearly all of the world's electronic markets. HRT launched its Single Dealer Platform (SDP) in the US and Systematic Internaliser (SI) in Europe in 2018, and Client Market Making in 2022.
