Huff Estates Winery is a boutique winery and hospitality destination located in Bloomfield, in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. It was founded by Lanny and Catharine Huff, both born and raised in the County, who combined a long-standing passion for fine wine with their deep local roots after vineyards began appearing in the region in 2001. The winery is owned and presided over by Lanny Huff, a chemical engineer by trade who spent much of his career in the plastics industry. The winery was purpose-built for quality wine production. Its state-of-the-art facility places the crush pad and fermentation tanks on top of a hill, allowing a natural gravity flow into the barrels below, which sit just behind a contemporary tasting bar. Winemaking is led by Frédéric Picard, a Burgundy-born oenologist trained at the Lycée of Beaune who has worked vintages in France, Italy, South Africa, Chile, California and Niagara, and who has been with Huff Estates since its establishment. Beyond wine, Huff Estates operates as a broader County destination. The property includes the Inn at Huff Estates, offering 21 Deluxe rooms and Premiere suites with en suite washrooms and pergola patios, plus a 1,100-square-foot Wine Maker's Suite and the 700-square-foot Loyalist Boardroom for corporate meetings and events. Visitors can enjoy tasting experiences, a restaurant and patio, an Oeno Gallery, and event spaces used for weddings and corporate retreats. His travels and love of wine informed the decision to build a winery once Prince Edward County was recognized as a grape-growing region. The winery facility was constructed with a single focus: producing high-quality wines. Its crush pad and fermentation tanks sit on top of a hill, enabling a natural gravity flow into the barrels below, which are positioned just behind the contemporary tasting bar. From the winery's establishment, Frédéric Picard has served as winemaker. Born in Burgundy, Picard first earned an MBA from Concordia University before pursuing winemaking, completing his winemaking and oenology degree at the famed Lycée of Beaune. He has done vintages in France, Italy, South Africa, Chile, California and Niagara before being drawn to Prince Edward County, and he has become a highly regarded craftsman in his trade. Over time, Huff Estates expanded beyond wine production into a multi-faceted hospitality destination. The property now includes the Inn at Huff Estates with 21 Deluxe rooms and Premiere suites, a restaurant and patio, the Oeno Gallery, and event and corporate spaces such as the 700-square-foot Loyalist Boardroom and the 1,100-square-foot Wine Maker's Suite.
