History
HUMAN MADE was founded in 2010 by Japanese fashion designer NIGO®. The brand's concept, "The Future Is In The Past," draws inspiration from NIGO®'s vast vintage collection, blending craftsmanship with bold ideas and original graphics. In August 2011, the first flagship store, "COLD COFFEE®," opened along Killer Street in Aoyama, Tokyo, designed to resemble a vintage shop with retro decor. In February 2013, HUMAN MADE released its first triple collaboration with Coca-Cola and BEAMS to celebrate Coca-Cola's 125th anniversary. In 2015, a souvenir-style counter store "STORE by NIGO®" opened on the first floor of Laforet Harajuku, later renamed "HUMAN MADE HARAJUKU" in July 2020. The company was incorporated as Otsumo Co., Ltd. in February 2016. In May 2019, HUMAN MADE 1928 opened in Kyoto, the first store in the Kansai region, located in a historic building completed in 1928. In November 2019, HUMAN MADE SHIBUYA PARCO opened on the first floor of the renewed Shibuya PARCO. In April 2020, a collaboration shoe with adidas Originals was released. In June 2020, HUMAN MADE led the production of charity T-shirts for the Black Lives Matter movement, with over 20 Japanese brands participating. Also in June 2020, NIGO®'s collaboration with LOUIS VUITTON, "LV MADE," featured iconic HUMAN MADE graphics. In May 2021, a collaboration cafe corner and goods with BLUE BOTTLE COFFEE started inside HUMAN MADE 1928. In July 2021, "HUMAN MADE GENERIC STORE" opened in Omotesando Hills, and a capsule collection with KAWS was released. In September 2021, a capsule collection with Lil Uzi Vert was announced. In January 2024, Pharrell Williams became an advisor. In June 2024, the company changed its name to HUMAN MADE Inc. In November 2025, HUMAN MADE Inc. listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market.
