humedica

humedica is an international humanitarian aid organization headquartered in Kaufbeuren, Germany. Since 1979 it has provided rapid emergency and disaster relief, worked in development cooperation and carried out charitable projects, guided by Christian charity as its guiding principle. It was founded by Dieter Groß, his brother Wolfgang Groß and further supporters after Dieter Groß encountered great suffering and hardship during a 1979 train journey through Europe to Morocco. Initially humedica provided aid through relief-goods transports; sponsorship programs, education and development projects and disaster operations around the globe followed. In 2019, after 40 years, Wolfgang Groß handed over responsibility to his successors Heinke Rauscher and Johannes Peter, who since 2021 lead the organization together with third board member Bernd Weber.

humedica was founded in 1979. In that year Dieter Groß from Kaufbeuren traveled by train with friends through Europe to Morocco, where they were confronted with great suffering and hardship — an experience that awakened the wish to actively help. Back in Germany, Dieter, his brother Wolfgang Groß and further supporters founded an organization for humanitarian aid: humedica. What began as an idea developed over the years into a multifaceted humanitarian work. humedica initially provided aid through relief-goods transports. Sponsorship programs, education and development projects as well as disaster operations around the globe followed. At the same time a strong network grew: the Groß brothers were also very active regionally, successfully promoting their vision in public and gaining supporters from business, media and society. Partnerships with companies, prominent ambassadors and later campaigns such as "Geschenk mit Herz" contributed substantially to strengthening humedica in the long term. The year 2019 marked a milestone in humedica's history: after 40 years of tireless commitment for people in need, Wolfgang Groß handed over responsibility for "his" organization to his two successors Heinke Rauscher and Johannes Peter. Since 2021 they lead his work together with third board member Bernd Weber.

Neutral and independent international humanitarian aid organization guided by Christian charity, aiming for people in need not only to survive but to take their lives into their own hands.
