Hunan Education Publishing House was founded in March 1982 and is a professional local education publishing house whose main business is education publishing and education services. It is a core enterprise of Zhongnan Publishing & Media Group and went public along with the group in 2010. Over more than 40 years of development it has formed seven major segments: thematic publishing and major academic works, textbooks and supplementary teaching materials, education theory, subject reading, family education, digital publishing, and journals. It publishes more than 700 new titles a year, and its overall strength ranks among the top three of comparable publishers nationwide.

Over more than 40 years of development it has formed seven major segments: thematic publishing and major academic works, textbooks and supplementary teaching materials, education theory, subject reading, family education, digital publishing, and journals. It has published more than 500 titles (sets) that won awards in book selections at various levels, of which 12 titles won national-level awards such as the National "Five One Project" Award, the National Book Award, and the China Publishing Government Award Book Award. Its annual new book publishing scale exceeds 700 titles, and its overall strength ranks among the top three of comparable publishers nationwide.
