Hunan Educational Television

Hunan Educational Television is one of Hunan's two provincial-level television stations and one of its nine mainstream media outlets, supervised by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education. It began broadcasting in September 1999, with its signal carried in both high-definition and standard-definition and covering the whole province, reaching an audience of more than 60 million. Its stated mission is to be 'rooted in big education, highlighting youth, serving society.' In recent years it has produced programs such as 'Socialism Is a Bit Trendy,' 'I Am the Successor,' 'Struggle Youth,' 'The Greatness of Moderate Prosperity,' and 'Century of Party History Trendy Youth,' forming a distinctive profile in ideological-political programming. Its works have won honors including the China News Award, China TV Starlight Award, and Hunan News Award, and it has developed brand columns such as 'Hunan Education News,' 'National Defense Education Channel,' and 'Hunan Admissions Exam,' along with brand events including 'TV Micro-Lectures,' 'Classic Recitation,' and 'Flowers Facing the Sun.' It is currently pursuing deep media convergence guided by the education digitalization strategy, with the goal of building a new-type main front for education publicity. In 2021 it led the operation of the Hunan Education Converged Media Center; in December 2023 it established the Hunan Province Ideological-Political Education Converged Media Visual Creation Center for Universities, Middle and Primary Schools; and in June 2024 it launched the 'Hunan Education Release' client and established the Hunan Education Converged Media Alliance. In 2024 the Hunan Education Converged Media Center received five honors from the Ministry of Education.
