History
IEMPSA began its long and productive work on 31 May 1949, when four record visionaries — Enrique Heeren, Ricardo Rivera Schreiber, Carlos Vich Musso, and Raúl Barrios Ordoñez — brought this project to life, thinking of transmitting not only a product but also feelings through the miraculous power of technological advances; thus the first record factory in Peru was born. Its objective was to produce and manufacture its own material, supporting enthusiastic national artists. On 7 July 1962, the first vinyl record made in Peru was released, containing two tracks by the group 'Catalina Huanca'. That same day the first Peruvian LP was presented, including tracks by 'Los Embajadores Criollos' and 'Los Kipus', among others. IEMPSA means more than half a century of Peruvian music in its different genres, with productions by artists such as Los Morochucos, Los Embajadores Criollos, Chabuca Granda, Alicia Maguiña, Arturo 'Zambo' Cavero, Oscar Aviles, Los Kipus, Los Hermanos Zañartu, Lucia De La Cruz, Los Destellos, Pedro Miguel Y Sus Maracaibos, Lucho Barrios, Pedrito Otiniano, Los Morunos, Los Hermanos Castro, Elmo Riveros, Raul Vasquez, La, Regina Alcover, Joe Danova, Cesar Altamirano, Los Shain's, El Jilguero Del Huascaran, Pastorita Huaracina, Amanda Portales, and Los Errantes. Hundreds of artists have passed through its old and legendary Guillermo Dansey recording studio, and thousands of hits have been recorded there during its existence.
