Overview
Indamedia Group (Hungarian: Indamedia Csoport), officially Indamedia Network Zrt., is a Hungarian media and advertising company group that ranks among the country's largest and most influential online publishers. Its roots trace back to the Central European Media and Publishing company (CEMP) and its successor CEMP-X online Zrt., which was established in October 2016 and gradually absorbed CEMP's operating companies, including ownership of Index.hu Zrt. In September 2018 the company was sold by its then-owner Spéder Zoltán to entrepreneurs Ziegler Gábor and Oltyán József. In November 2018 the business was reorganised into Indamedia Network Zrt., the publishing arm, and Indamedia Sales Kft., the advertising sales arm, with Ziegler and Oltyán remaining as owners. In March 2020 Vaszily Miklós acquired Oltyán's 50% stake, becoming co-owner alongside Ziegler. The group operates a broad portfolio of online titles and manages the full advertising inventory of many of them. Its best-known brands include the news portal Index.hu, the tabloid Blikk, the women's and lifestyle titles Femina, Glamour, Kiskegyed and Dívány, the automotive portal TotalCar, the programme guide PORT.hu, the business site Napi.hu and the regional lifestyle site We Love Budapest. The group also runs the AI Summit Budapest conference. In October 2025 Indamedia acquired Ringier's Hungarian media portfolio, further consolidating its position. In September 2026 it was announced that Ziegler Gábor would leave the group effective 30 September 2026, with Vaszily Miklós continuing to lead the company as owner and CEO. The ownership and management change was stated not to involve any structural reorganisation, and Indamedia continues to operate under its existing business model and organisational structure.
History
Indamedia Group's history begins with its predecessor, Közép Európai Média és Kiadó Zrt. (CEMP) and CEMP SH Kft. In October 2016, CEMP-X online Zrt. was established, and CEMP's companies were gradually transferred into it. This entity owned, among other assets, Index.hu Zrt., the operator of Hungary's leading news portal. In September 2018, the company was sold by its then-owner Spéder Zoltán to entrepreneurs Ziegler Gábor and Oltyán József. In November 2018, the company was reorganised into Indamedia Network Zrt., which housed the publishing business, and Indamedia Sales Kft., which handled the sale of advertising surfaces. Ziegler and Oltyán remained the owners. In March 2020, Vaszily Miklós purchased Oltyán's 50% ownership stake, becoming co-owner with Ziegler. On 21 June 2020, the editorial staff of Index.hu published a notice on an independent site stating that the editorial independence of the publication was at risk, citing the influence of Indamedia, which exclusively sold the publication's advertising surfaces. Journalists who left Index.hu Zrt. launched a new newspaper called Telex.hu on 2 October 2020. On 31 October 2025, Indamedia Group acquired Ringier and its media portfolio. In September 2026, it was announced that Ziegler Gábor would leave the group effective 30 September 2026, and that Vaszily Miklós would continue to lead the company group as owner and CEO. The ownership and management change was stated not to involve structural transformation, and Indamedia continues its activities along the current operating model and organisational structure.
