InshaMuzyka

InshaMuzyka (ІншаМузика, literally "Other Music") is a Ukrainian independent record label dedicated to alternative and non-mainstream music. It was founded in autumn 2006 by producer Vlad Liashenko and director Viktor Pryduvalov. The label grew out of Liashenko's earlier work as executive director of the Ukrainian branch of the international Global Battle of the Bands festival in 2004 and as art director of the Kyiv club Bingo, where he programmed conceptual concert events. He also produced the alternative metal bands ТОЛ and АННА, and launched InshaMuzyka to demonstrate that non-commercial, "non-format" music could be competitive. The label operates as both a record company and a concert promoter. Over its first six years it organized roughly 200 concerts attended by at least 50,000 spectators, and about 500 Ukrainian groups took part in its concerts and festivals. Its own InshaMuzyka Festival has been held roughly once every five years, with the most recent edition in 2011. In 2016 the label marked its tenth anniversary at the Kyiv club Bingo. InshaMuzyka's catalogue focuses on Ukrainian alternative rock, alternative metal, post-rock and related genres. InshaMuzyka was founded in autumn 2006 by producer Vlad Liashenko and director Viktor Pryduvalov. On his initiative the publishing label "Insha Muzyka" was opened to prove that non-commercial, "non-format" music could be competitive. For a long time the label operated despite an almost complete absence of alternative mass media, with the exception of the Enter TV channel. In its first six years the label organized about 200 concerts attended by at least 50,000 spectators, and around 500 Ukrainian groups took part in its concerts and festivals. Its own InshaMuzyka Festival was held roughly once every five years, with the most recent edition in 2011. In 2016 the label celebrated its tenth anniversary at the Kyiv club Bingo. The label's release catalogue spans 2006 to 2012 and includes CDs, EPs, compilations and DVDs. The following years brought Pictures Inside Me's "Обреченный Жить" (2009), KNOB feat Seine's "Пальне" (2009), Merva's "Bardo" (2009), Jim Jams' "Serdce" (2009), ТОЛ's EP "Клей. МО" (2009) and ТонкаяКраснаяНить's "Саундтрек Моей Жизни" (2009). In 2010 the label released ПНД's "2 аккорда", Мегамасс's "Сверхърельеф" and АННА's "Срібна змія"; in 2011 ТонкаяКраснаяНить's "Второе Я" and Void's "Все также медленно"; and in 2012 Stoned Jesus's "Seven Thunders Roar" and Мегамасс's "Его Величество Удар". DVD releases included АННА feat. ТОЛ's "КАРМА. ТРЕШ. ТУР" (2009) and ТОЛ's "ДетоНація" (2009). The label's official website has been archived, and InshaMuzyka remains a notable reference point for Ukrainian independent alternative music of the 2000s and 2010s.
