Overview
The Institut de formation, d'animation et de conseil (Ifac) is a French non-profit association (association loi de 1901) with an educational, social and territorial mission. It was first established in 1975 in the Hauts-de-Seine department by a group of young association leaders, including André Santini, Jean-Pierre Bourdon and Marc Guillemot, who wanted to rethink training and animation around proximity to territories and populations, technical expertise, neutrality, independence and quality. A national association was created in 1984 as a space for exchange and partnership between local elected officials, professionals and individuals. Ifac operates along three main lines: vocational and volunteer training; animation and management of socio-cultural and educational spaces; and consulting for local actors. Its training programmes cover early childhood, animation and personal assistance, occasional engagement through the BAFA, and management roles in structures. It manages leisure centres, educational and recreational facilities, and advises local authorities and associations on defining, implementing and evaluating local educational and social policies. After more than 45 years of activity, Ifac reports 22 delegations across France, more than 2,000 permanent staff, around 25,000 trainees per year, and involvement in more than 400 animation structures. It is a secular association, recognised as being of general interest, and holds several accreditations including Jeunesse Éducation populaire, complementary association to public schools, Qualiopi certification, and national habilitation for BAFA/BAFD training. Its website is www.ifac.asso.fr.
History
The first Ifac association (Ifac 92) was created in the Hauts-de-Seine department in 1975 on the initiative of a group of young association leaders, including André Santini, Jean-Pierre Bourdon and Marc Guillemot. Their aim was to propose a different way of conceiving training and animation: proximity to territories and populations, technical expertise, neutrality, independence and quality. The national association was created in 1984. It serves as a space for exchange and partnership between local elected officials and professionals, and between professionals and individuals, within the framework of animation and social action services. It works with audiences of all ages, from early childhood to the elderly, on missions of animation, leisure (childhood/family), integration and employment promotion, citizenship, and support for associative life. Ifac is a secular association. After more than 45 years of activity, Ifac currently has 22 delegations across the territory, brings together more than 2,000 permanent staff, trains around 25,000 trainees per year and operates in more than 400 animation structures.
