History

The station's history began with a concession granted by the Ministry of Communications in 2001 to Rede Vanguarda de Ipatinga in Coronel Fabriciano. Due to family problems, the project was shelved for six years. In 2007, Rede Vanguarda joined with Grupo Coelho Diniz of Governador Valadares to establish the station in Coronel Fabriciano. On July 13, 2007, TV dos Vales began operating experimentally, retransmitting Rede Record programming, including to 40 cities via TV retransmitters (RTV). The official inauguration took place on August 6, 2007, attended by Minister of Communications Hélio Costa and owner Hercílio Diniz. The station was expected to cover 133 cities in the Rio Doce, Mucuri, and Jequitinhonha valleys, reaching an estimated audience of over 2 million inhabitants. On September 15, it began generating local programs. By November, coverage increased to 108 municipalities, and by January 2008, it reached 133 cities. Its programming included two editions of Jornal dos Vales, Balanço Geral, and the sports show Bola no Gol. In early 2008, businessman Fernando Aboudib Camargo, who already owned Globo affiliates in Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, and Rio Grande do Norte, became a partner in TV dos Vales. In July 2008, TV Globo announced the termination of its affiliation contract with TV Leste and began negotiations with TV dos Vales. On August 1, 2008, TV dos Vales debuted as a Globo affiliate, covering 123 municipalities including Coronel Fabriciano, Ipatinga, Timóteo, Governador Valadares, and Caratinga. The news program Jornal dos Vales was immediately replaced by MGTV, following the standard of Globo's Minas Gerais affiliates. The station later became part of Rede InterTV, a network of Globo affiliates owned by the Camargo family. Since then, InterTV dos Vales has continued to produce local journalism and programming, such as Rota Inter TV, which highlights tourist destinations in Minas Gerais. Its professionals have received awards, including the Prêmio Sindifisco-MG de Comunicação. The station's signal reaches 160 cities in Minas Gerais.
