IOL Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Limited is a purpose and service-driven Active Pharma Ingredients (API) Products, Intermediates and Specialty Chemicals Company. It was incorporated in 1986 with an Acetic Acid Plant and has since built out dedicated units for products such as Ibuprofen, Metformin Hydrochloride, Clopidogrel Bisulfate Form II, Fenofibrate and Pantoprazole Sodium. The company describes itself as one of the world's largest Integrated API & Specialty Chemicals facilities and as one of the largest manufacturers of Ethyl Acetate, an environment friendly solvent known as a 'Green Solvent'. It is listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

IOL Chemicals and Pharmaceutical Limited was incorporated in 1986 with an Acetic Acid Plant. An Ethyl Acetate Plant commenced in 1996, followed by an Acetic Anhydride Plant in 1999 and Ibuprofen Unit-1 in 2000. In 2007 the company established Unit-1 dedicated for Ibuprofen and a multi fuel captive co-generation power plant of 4MW capacity. In 2009 it commenced Iso Butyl Benezene, Mono Chloro Acetic Acid and Acetyl Chloride Plant, leading to backward integration to Ibuprofen. In 2010 IOL got listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and established a multi fuel captive co-generation power plant of 13MW capacity. Unit-2 for Multi product commenced in 2012; the company received EUGMP certification in 2013 and a USFDA EIR for Ibuprofen in 2015. Unit-3 for new product launches commenced in 2016, and in 2017 Unit-2 was converted into a dedicated facility for Ibuprofen. In 2018 the company established Unit-4 dedicated for Metformin Hydrochloride and Unit-5 dedicated for Clopidogrel Bisulfate Form II & Fenofibrate. Unit-6 dedicated for Pantoprazole Sodium was established in 2019, Unit-7 dedicated for Metformin in 2020, and Unit-8 for Multi Products in 2021.
