Overview
Ishikawa Toyopet Corolla Co., Ltd. is a Toyota automobile dealership headquartered in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. It operates Toyopet and Corolla stores throughout Ishikawa Prefecture and also runs one Lexus store. The company is an equity-method affiliate of Chuo Jidosha Kogyo. The company was established on June 27, 1956 as Ishikawa Toyopet Hanbai Co., Ltd., and changed its name to Ishikawa Toyopet Co., Ltd. in 1957. In 2005 it acquired Toyota Corolla Ishikawa, which had been directly operated by Toyota Motor Corporation, and opened Lexus Kanazawa Ekimae. In 2007 the SHI Group was formed. On April 1, 2020, ahead of Toyota's full-line dealership integration from May 2020, Ishikawa Toyopet merged with its group company Toyota Corolla Ishikawa, with Ishikawa Toyopet as the surviving company, and changed its name to Ishikawa Toyopet Corolla. The group name was also changed from SHI Group to Toyota IPC Group. Prior to this, on January 9, 2020, a new store integrating the two companies' Wajima city locations opened in Wajima. After the merger, the company adopted an in-house company system for a time, with former Ishikawa Toyopet dealerships operated by Ishikawa Toyopet Company and former Toyota Corolla Ishikawa dealerships operated by Toyota Corolla Ishikawa Company. Store names had used 'Toyopet' or 'Corolla' prefixes after the merger, but this was abolished in May 2023. Stores with overlapping names between the former Toyopet and Corolla networks were renamed by adding place names; for example, 'Toyopet Komatsu' became 'Komatsu' and 'Corolla Komatsu' became 'Komatsu Hakurei'. The company is scheduled to change its name to Toyota Mobility Ishikawa Co., Ltd. on July 1, 2026.
History
Ishikawa Toyopet Corolla traces its origins to June 27, 1956, when it was established as Ishikawa Toyopet Hanbai Co., Ltd. The following year, in 1957, it changed its corporate name to Ishikawa Toyopet Co., Ltd. In 2003 the company constructed a new head office building. In 2005 it took over Toyota Corolla Ishikawa, which had previously been directly operated by Toyota Motor Corporation, and opened Lexus Kanazawa Ekimae. In 2007 the SHI Group was launched. A major turning point came in 2020. On January 9, 2020, a new store integrating the Wajima city locations of the two companies opened in Wajima. Then, on April 1, 2020, ahead of Toyota's full-line dealership integration starting in May 2020, Ishikawa Toyopet merged with its group company Toyota Corolla Ishikawa, with Ishikawa Toyopet as the surviving company, and changed its name to Ishikawa Toyopet Corolla. The group name was also changed from SHI Group to Toyota IPC Group. After the management integration, the company adopted an in-house company system for a period, with former Ishikawa Toyopet dealerships operated by Ishikawa Toyopet Company and former Toyota Corolla Ishikawa dealerships operated by Toyota Corolla Ishikawa Company. Store naming conventions changed over time. After the merger, stores operated by the former Ishikawa Toyopet were given the 'Toyopet' prefix, and those operated by the former Toyota Corolla Ishikawa were given the 'Corolla' prefix. This practice was abolished in May 2023. For stores with overlapping names between the former Toyopet and Corolla networks, the company renamed them by adding place names. For example, in the case of Komatsu, 'Ishikawa Toyopet Corolla Toyopet Komatsu' became 'Ishikawa Toyopet Corolla Komatsu', and 'Ishikawa Toyopet Corolla Corolla Komatsu' became 'Ishikawa Toyopet Corolla Komatsu Hakurei'. The company also closed Welcab Kanazawa on June 30, 2022, and opened Mobility Park Kanazawa as a successor store on July 16 of the same year. The company is scheduled to change its name to Toyota Mobility Ishikawa Co., Ltd. on July 1, 2026.
