Overview

Itsukishobo (株式会社五ツ木書房) is a Japanese educational publisher and testing company headquartered in Tsurumi-ku, Osaka. Founded in 1956 in Nishi-ku, Osaka, the company has built its business around two pillars: school teaching materials and tests, and the Itsuki mock examinations (五ツ木模試) for junior-high and high-school entrance exams. Its flagship offering, the Itsuki mock examination, is described by the company as the largest open-venue mock examination in the Kansai region, taken each year by large numbers of fifth- and sixth-grade elementary students and junior-high students. The company's product range includes school textbooks and tests, the Selett 21 series of study materials for junior-high and high-school students, library materials for junior-high schools, psychological testing, and the operation of the cram school Seminar Itsuki (セミナー五ツ木). It also publishes entrance-exam information and runs guidance-counselling events for students and parents. Its sales area covers Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo, Shiga, Nara, Wakayama, and the city of Nabari in Mie Prefecture. Itsukishobo's mock examinations are organized into several lines: the Itsuki Mock Examination for junior-high students, the Itsuki-Kyoto Mock Examination specialized for Kyoto high-school entrance exams, and the Itsuki-Senshodo Mock Examination for elementary-school students aiming at private junior-high entrance. The company has continued to modernize delivery, offering at-home testing systems and online portals for registration, score viewing, and follow-up study advice. Itsukishobo remains a private, family-style Japanese company rather than a listed corporation. Its long-standing corporate motto, "Sincere, humble, and diligent" (誠実に、謙虚に、一生懸命に), reflects its positioning as a trusted regional education brand. The current president is Kawamura Masataka (河村匡剛).
