Jägerbataillon 24

Jägerbataillon 24 (JgB 24) is a light infantry battalion of the Austrian Armed Forces (Bundesheer). It is one of the subordinate units of the 6th Mountain Brigade (6. Gebirgsbrigade), a formation that also includes Stabsbataillon 6, Jägerbataillon 23, Jägerbataillon 26 and Pionierbataillon 2. As a Jäger (rifle/infantry) battalion, its primary role is dismounted combat, security and territorial defence, with personnel trained for operations in mountainous and alpine terrain. The battalion is part of Austria's national defence structure and appears in the Bundesheer's official order of battle. Its public profile is maintained through the Austrian Ministry of Defence and Sports (BMLV) website, which lists it under the 6th Mountain Brigade. The unit is not a commercial company; it is a state military formation, and its 'brand' identity is that of an official Austrian Army battalion. The battalion's lineage and exact founding date are not specified in the available evidence, but it is an active unit within the Austrian Armed Forces. Its insignia and traditions follow Austrian military conventions, and it participates in national and international exercises and missions as directed by the Bundesheer.
