History

The company's predecessor, the Japan Action Club (ジャパンアクションクラブ), had been active in Shinjuku Ward for several years before being formally established in Higashi-Nakano, Nakano Ward, Tokyo, in April 1970. It was founded by the actor Sonny Chiba. Through an open public recruitment, about ten actors and action stunt performers joined and trained, and the organization began full-scale planning, composition, direction, and production for film, TV, stage, events, and commercials, as well as talent development and management. In November 1973, it was incorporated as Japan Action Club Co., Ltd. (株式会社ジャパンアクションクラブ). In June 1977, the head office was established in Roppongi, Minato Ward, Tokyo, with capital of 1.5 million yen. In February 1979, Japan Action Club received the Blue Ribbon Staff Award for its action stunt performance in the film "Sengoku Jieitai" ("G.I. Samurai"), said to be the first such award in Japan. In February 1981, the head office moved from Roppongi to Ebisu, and in July a fan club was launched with 3,000 members. In July 1991, the company merged with Daishinto Group's Jungle Co., Ltd. (Nikko Edo Village) and continued under the name "Japan Action Club Business Division." In November 1996, it became independent from Jungle Co., Ltd.; Osamu Kaneda, the current president, established Japan Action Club Co., Ltd. (有限会社ジャパンアクションクラブ) in Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, with capital of 3 million yen. In April 2001, the company changed its name to Japan Action Enterprise Co., Ltd. (株式会社ジャパンアクションエンタープライズ) and increased its capital to 10 million yen. In November 2007, it established the training facility JAE FACTORY in Ukima, Kita Ward, Tokyo, for the development and strengthening of its talent. In November 2014, the head office moved to Fukudomachi, Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, where it remains. According to the company's message, since its founding in 1970 it has upheld the philosophy that an actor expresses with a strong body and flexible physique, and that the body is the actor's language. It has trained actors mainly through film, TV, and stage, and has produced many talents who became action directors and stunt performers, helping to pioneer Japan's action and stunt industry. It has appeared in numerous films, TV programs, commercials, motion-capture projects, stage performances, in-house stage productions, and events. The company states that, with the support of fans and partner companies, it has reached half a century as a pioneer. It now anticipates growing global demand for subscription-based online drama and film, inbound entertainment, and esports, and aims to continue and expand existing businesses while creating and producing new entertainment and strengthening management.
