Overview

Japan PILE Corporation (ジャパンパイル株式会社) is a Japanese construction company specializing in pile foundation engineering. It is the core domestic operating company of Asia Pile Holdings Corporation, a group listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The company positions itself as the industry's largest "comprehensive foundation construction company," capable of handling all three major categories of pile foundations: precast concrete piles, cast-in-place piles, and steel pipe piles. Its work supports high-rise buildings, condominiums, expressways, bridges, public facilities, and theme parks, with several thousand projects completed annually. The company's roots go back to 1923, when Takechi Engineering Works—one of its predecessor entities—began manufacturing and installing the "Takechi Pile," regarded as Japan's first commercialized precast concrete pile. Over the following decades, the business evolved through several predecessor companies, including Daido Concrete Industry (1934), Geotop (1923), and Yocon (1958). In 2005, these companies established a joint holding company, Japan PILE Corporation, through a share transfer. After a series of integrations and reorganizations, the domestic operating company was renamed Japan PILE Corporation in 2015 when the group transitioned to a holding company structure under Asia Pile Holdings Corporation. Japan PILE provides integrated services from design and manufacturing to construction. It develops proprietary pile methods such as the Smart-MAGNUM method, the Geothermal Tornado method, and the JP-Pile method, some of which have received ministerial certifications. The company also promotes digital transformation in foundation construction, including the use of BIM models for construction simulation. It has expanded its technical expertise into Asian markets through its parent company's subsidiaries in Vietnam and Myanmar. As of the latest available information, Japan PILE Corporation remains an active subsidiary of Asia Pile Holdings Corporation, headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo. It celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2023, marking a century of contributions to foundation engineering in Japan.

History

The history of Japan PILE Corporation is rooted in the early 20th century. In 1923, Takechi Engineering Works, one of its predecessor entities, began manufacturing and installing the "Takechi Pile," which is considered Japan's first commercialized precast concrete pile. This marked the beginning of the company's long involvement in foundation engineering. In 1934, Daido Concrete Industry Co., Ltd. was established, another predecessor. In 1958, Yocon Co., Ltd. was founded. These companies operated independently for decades, developing expertise in different aspects of pile foundation work. On April 1, 2005, Geotop Co., Ltd. and Daido Concrete Industry Co., Ltd. established a joint holding company named Japan PILE Corporation through a share transfer. On June 24, 2005, the company announced a management integration plan with Yocon Co., Ltd., and on October 1, 2005, Yocon became a wholly owned subsidiary through a share exchange. In 2006, the manufacturing divisions of Geotop, Daido Concrete Industry, and Yocon were separated to form Japan PILE Manufacturing Co., Ltd. In 2007, Japan PILE Fujicon Co., Ltd. was established jointly with Fujicon Co., Ltd. for concrete pile sales and construction. On April 1, 2007, Geotop, Daido Concrete Industry, and Yocon were merged. On October 1, 2007, Chiba Kosan Co., Ltd. was renamed Japan PILE Foundation Co., Ltd. In 2008, Kiso Kogyo Co., Ltd. became a wholly owned subsidiary, and Takechi Sansho Co., Ltd. was renamed Japan PILE Logistics Co., Ltd. The head office was relocated to Nihonbashi Hamacho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. On February 6, 2009, the company was listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. In 2010, it established Hokkon JP Co., Ltd. jointly with Hokkon Co., Ltd., and entered a capital alliance with Phan Vu Investment Corporation in Vietnam. In 2011, Yashima Concrete Industry Co., Ltd. was absorbed into Japan PILE Manufacturing, which was then absorbed into Japan PILE Corporation. The investment ratio in Phan Vu was increased, making it an equity-method affiliate. On December 4, 2012, the company was listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. In 2013, Japan PILE Foundation Co., Ltd. was merged into Kiso Kogyo Co., Ltd., and the name was changed to Japan PILE Foundation Industry Co., Ltd. On December 20, 2013, Phan Vu became a consolidated subsidiary. In 2014, Phan Vu Hai Duong Concrete Joint Stock Company was made a subsidiary. In 2015, preparations for a holding company structure began with the establishment of Japan PILE Split Preparation Co., Ltd. On October 1, 2015, the company transitioned to a holding company structure and changed its name to Asia Pile Holdings Corporation. Simultaneously, Japan PILE Split Preparation Co., Ltd. was renamed Japan PILE Corporation and became the domestic operating company. In 2017, the company began selling the "Geothermal Tornado Method" and absorbed JP Products Kagoshima Co., Ltd. The head office was relocated to Nihonbashi Hakozaki-cho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. In 2018, the "MAGNUM Method" received ministerial certification. In 2020, Shintoku Kogyo Co., Ltd. became a subsidiary. In 2021, the "Smart-MAGNUM Method" received ministerial certification. In 2023, the "Geothermal Tornado Method" won the 25th National Land Technology Development Award (Excellence Award), and the company held its 100th anniversary ceremonies in Osaka and Tokyo. In 2024, the "JP-Pile Method" received ministerial certification. In 2025, Takayama Foundation Industry Co., Ltd. is scheduled to become a subsidiary on October 1. Today, Japan PILE Corporation continues to lead the foundation construction industry in Japan, providing integrated services from design to manufacturing and construction, and expanding its technologies into Asian markets through its parent company, Asia Pile Holdings Corporation.
