Jestrai Records

Jestrai Records is an Italian independent record label founded in 2002 by Mariateresa Regazzoni, mother of Verdena members Alberto and Luca Ferrari. The label grew out of Jestrai Edizioni, a publishing business Regazzoni had set up the previous year to handle Verdena's lyrics. Based in Italy, Jestrai is a small, artist-oriented independent label that combines record production with booking and live promotion. The label's early releases included work by emerging bands such as Fiub and Love in Elevator, and it produced the singer-songwriter Dente, whom the label discovered by chance at a small venue in Fidenza. Jestrai later became the label of the established band Ulan Bator, releasing their albums Rodeo Massacre and Ulaan Baatar. Through the JestraiRock touring network it also fostered collaborations and record productions with acts including Adharma, Coffee Orchestral, Cora, Gea, Herself, Lana, Lecrevisse and Karnea. Jestrai is closely tied to the JestraiRock festival. The first JestraiRock was held in 2001 and quickly grew into a touring festival that became a regular event, designed to give unknown bands exposure by sharing bills with well-known acts. Artists who have appeared on the JestraiRock stage include Bambole di Pezza, Bugo, Extrema, Giardini di Mirò, Marta sui Tubi, Mercury Rev, Moltheni, One Dimensional Man, Jennifer Gentle, Super Elastic Bubble Plastic, Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, Ulan Bator and Verdena, alongside up-and-coming newcomers. In September 2013 Jestrai founded the sub-label Factum Est Records, focused on more experimental work than the parent label. Jestrai Records remains an Italian independent label whose catalogue is rooted in alternative rock and singer-songwriter music, and it continues to be documented through its official website and music databases such as Discogs and MusicBrainz.

Jestrai Records is an Italian independent record label founded in 2002 on the initiative of Mariateresa Regazzoni, the mother of Alberto and Luca Ferrari of the band Verdena. The label's origins lie in publishing: the previous year Regazzoni had created Jestrai Edizioni as the publisher of Verdena's lyrics. This family and artistic connection gave the label a distinctive identity within the Italian alternative scene. Among the label's first productions were emerging groups such as Fiub and Love in Elevator. Jestrai also handled booking for its groups, promoting concerts, which tied record releases to live activity. In 2001 the first JestraiRock date took place; before long it became a genuine travelling festival, a recurring event created to give visibility to still-unknown bands and to let audiences hear them live, placing their performances alongside those of already well-known groups. The JestraiRock stage hosted a broad mix of Italian and international acts, including Bambole di Pezza, Bugo, Extrema, Giardini di Mirò, Marta sui Tubi, Mercury Rev, Moltheni, One Dimensional Man, Jennifer Gentle, Super Elastic Bubble Plastic, Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, Ulan Bator and Verdena, alongside emerging talents. Beyond Fiub and Love in Elevator, Jestrai produced the singer-songwriter Dente, discovered by chance in a small venue in Fidenza. The JestraiRock circuit also generated further collaborations and record productions, including Adharma, Coffee Orchestral, Cora, Gea, Herself, Lana, Lecrevisse and Karnea. The label later became the home of Ulan Bator, a historic band already on the scene for years, which released Rodeo Massacre and Ulaan Baatar through Jestrai. In September 2013 Jestrai founded the sub-label Factum Est Records, dedicated to more experimental productions than those of the parent label. This move extended the group's range while keeping the main Jestrai imprint focused on its established alternative and singer-songwriter catalogue. The label's official website is jestrai.com, and its activity is documented in music databases such as Discogs and MusicBrainz.
