Johann Jakob Christoph von Grimmelshausen-Gesellschaft

The Johann Jakob Christoph von Grimmelshausen-Gesellschaft e.V. is a German literary society founded in 1977 on the occasion of the large commemorative exhibition 'Simplicius Simplicissimus – Grimmelshausen und seine Zeit' in Münster. It has become an international association of literary and cultural historians, interested laypeople, and the Grimmelshausen cities Gelnhausen, Soest, Offenburg, Oberkirch and Renchen. Its shared goal is to promote scholarly research into Grimmelshausen's works in their historical and reception contexts and to disseminate knowledge of them, through regular exchange of findings, investigations and research on Grimmelshausen and Baroque culture. The society particularly seeks cooperation with researchers from other disciplines and scholarly dialogue, and aims to address readers of all educational levels. To these ends it has regularly conducted scholarly symposia.

For these purposes it has regularly conducted scholarly symposia, including in 1979 in Welbergen near Münster, 1983 in Offenburg, 1986 in Marburg, 1989 in Zürich, 1992 in Eichstätt, 1995 in Karlsruhe, 1998 in Zürich, 1999 in Wolfenbüttel, 2000 in Strasbourg, 2001 in Oberkirch, 2002 in Aachen and Budapest, 2003 in Renchen, 2004 in Oberkirch, 2005 in Münster, 2006 and 2007 in Oberkirch, 2009 in Oberkirch and Gelnhausen, 2010 in Oberkirch, Offenburg and Renchen, 2011 in Wittstock, 2012 in Basel, 2013 in Oberkirch and Renchen, 2014 in Gelnhausen, 2015 and 2016 in Oberkirch and Renchen, and 2017 in…
