Overview
Jordan Paramedic Society (JPS), known in Arabic as الجمعية الأردنية للإسعاف, is a Jordanian non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 2012 in Amman by Dr. Yanal Al-Ajlouni. It describes itself as one of the leading medical institutes in Jordan in medical management and awareness, health development, emergency response, and disaster management. Its mission is to serve as the National EMS Society in Jordan, ensuring international standardization of emergency practice through a valid, uniform process to assess and retain the knowledge and skills required for competent practice by EMS professionals throughout their careers. JPS operates a training center established in 2014 that holds national and international accreditation, specializing in first-aid and emergency training aligned with international standards such as American Heart Association guidelines. Courses are delivered by doctors, paramedics, nurses, and medical students, and are offered to professionals as well as schools, companies, factories, and the wider community. The organization also publishes EMS treatment protocols that direct the actions of EMS personnel regarding techniques and medications, requiring online medical direction and contact with medical authority under physician supervision when indicated. JPS is a member of JONAF, JOSH, and the CPD National Committee. Princess Muna Al Hussein serves as honorary president, while Dr. Yanal Al-Ajlouni is the current president. In 2017, JPS was recognized by UNHCR as a partner in providing humanitarian assistance to refugee camps in Jordan, and in the same year received the Humanitarian Work Excellence Award (Working Together) during World Humanitarian Day celebrations. The organization has implemented numerous projects, including reproductive health support for women and children and monitoring of pregnant Syrian women in JPS clinics (2016), general referral for emergency trauma cases from Al-Zaatari and Al-Azraq refugee camps (2017–2018), and treatment of war-wounded cases including intensive care, multiple trauma, spinal and limb injuries, and skull fractures (2016–2018). In 2018, JPS organized a conference titled "From Accident to Hospital, Your Life is Our Mission" under the patronage of Princess Muna Al Hussein.
