Overview
JTEC Corporation (株式会社ジェイテックコーポレーション) is a Japanese precision-technology company headquartered in Ibaraki, Osaka. It was founded in December 1993 in Suita, Osaka, as 株式会社ジェイテック, a joint venture with Osaka Computer Corporation, and renamed JTEC Corporation in May 2016. The company is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard Market, having first floated on the TSE Mothers market in February 2018 and later moved through the First Section and Prime Market before shifting to the Standard Market in August 2025. JTEC operates across three technology fields that it describes as crossing different disciplines: Optical, Device Development, and Life Science. Its Optical business is built around high-precision X-ray focusing mirrors for synchrotron radiation and X-ray free-electron laser facilities, sold under the OsakaMirror brand. The company states that more than 1,800 of these mirrors have been delivered to over 30 advanced facilities in Japan, the United States, Europe, China and elsewhere, giving it a dominant share of the high-precision X-ray mirror market. Its mirrors are used at SPring-8 and SACLA in Japan. In 2020 the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry selected this product line for its Global Niche Top 100 list. The Device Development business applies the company's polishing know-how to ultra-precision processing of hard-to-machine materials, including silicon carbide (SiC) for power semiconductors and diamond heat-dissipation substrates for AI and data-center applications, as well as next-generation processing and polishing systems such as plasma CVM, PAP and ECMP. The Life Science business, which dates back to the company's founding, develops automated cell-culture equipment and related technologies such as the CELLFLOAT rotational suspension culture method and blood-cell separation, aimed at industrializing regenerative medicine. JTEC has a strong academic collaboration model, commercializing research from Osaka University and RIKEN. It opened a cell-culture center inside Osaka University in 2016, established a joint research department with Osaka University in 2023, and signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the University of Hyogo in 2025. It also exhibited at the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai. The company's management philosophy is to create unique products through technologies that do not exist elsewhere and contribute broadly to society.
History
JTEC Corporation was established in December 1993 in Suita, Osaka, as 株式会社ジェイテック, a joint venture with Osaka Computer Corporation. Its founder and representative, Takashi Tsumura, graduated from Osaka University's Faculty of Engineering in 1981, worked at Kurashiki Boseki (Kurabo) and elsewhere, and then founded the company. From the start, the business centered on automated cell-culture equipment, forming the base of what is now its Life Science and Device Development operations. In July 1994 the company received investment from Osaka Small and Medium Business Investment & Consultation Co. In August 2004 it moved its head office to Minatojima-minamimachi, Chuo-ku, Kobe, Hyogo. In 2006 it began the business of high-precision X-ray mirrors for synchrotron radiation, commercializing research results from Osaka University and RIKEN; these mirrors are used at facilities such as SPring-8 and SACLA. In September 2015 the head office moved to Saito-yamabuki, Ibaraki, Osaka, and in December 2015 the company received investment from the first fund of Osaka University Venture Capital. In May 2016 the company changed its trade name to 株式会社ジェイテックコーポレーション (JTEC Corporation), and in the same year opened a cell-culture center inside Osaka University. In February 2018 it listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Mothers market; it was the first portfolio company of the four venture-capital firms established as subsidiaries of national universities under the public-private innovation program to go public. In July 2019 it moved its head office to a new location in Saito-yamabuki, Ibaraki, and completed a new head-office building together with processing and measurement buildings. Also in 2019 it began next-generation processing and polishing systems, the first being a quartz-crystal wafer processing system. In September 2020 the company moved its listing to the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, which became the Prime Market in April 2022. In May 2021 it made Denshi Kagaku Co., Ltd. a wholly owned subsidiary. In 2022 it opened the Tochigi Production Technology Center and, in 2023, established a joint research department with Osaka University. In 2025 it signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the University of Hyogo and exhibited at the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai. In August 2025 it changed its market segment to the Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard Market. Today JTEC describes itself as aiming to be a global niche-top manufacturing company, pursuing unique technologies that cross fields: X-ray mirrors for synchrotron facilities, ultra-precision polishing of hard-to-machine materials, and automated cell-culture technology for regenerative medicine. Its management philosophy is to create products using unique technologies not found elsewhere and to contribute broadly to society.
