History
Junglim Architecture was founded on June 17, 1967, as the Junglim Architecture Research Institute by Kim Jung-chul and Kim Jung-sik. It started in a single-story tile-roofed house in Euljiro with four employees, and the design organization quickly expanded to about 30 people as it won successive projects. In February 1970, it moved to Samok Building in Bukchang-dong, Jung-gu, and undertook major projects such as the Seoul National University Gwanak campus main building (1973), the Foreign Exchange Bank headquarters competition win (1973), and the Samyang Corporation headquarters (1974). In 1971, it was renamed Junglim Architecture. In October 1973, it was registered as a corporation, Junglim Architecture Co., Ltd., reorganizing to encompass experts across all architectural fields. In December 1975, it moved to a new office building in Yeongeon-dong, Jongno-gu, with 107 employees across six departments. In the 1980s, it designed the Ewha Womans University library, among other projects.
