History
The predecessor of Keikyu Corporation, Daishi Electric Railway Co., Ltd., was founded on February 25, 1898 (Meiji 31) with capital of 98,000 yen, combining plans for the Yokohama Electric Railway and the Kawasaki Electric Railway. It began operations on January 21 of the following year. In April of the same year, it changed its name to Keihin Electric Railway Co., Ltd. In November 1941, it merged with Shonan Peninsula Automobile, expanding into the Miura Peninsula. During the war, it was merged into Tokyo Yokohama Electric Railway (later Tokyu Corporation) under wartime business controls, but in June 1948 it separated and was reestablished as Keihin Electric Express Railway Co., Ltd. with capital of 100 million yen.
