Overview

La Tele Tuya, commonly shortened to Tele Tuya or TLT, is a Venezuelan free-to-air television channel that began broadcasting on 23 May 2016, replacing the regional channel Televisión Regional (TVR). It is owned by the production company T&H Producciones. The channel emerged from a transitional period in which TVR had partnered with the regional broadcaster TeleAragua, and it was presided over by Esteban Trapiello, who had been president of TeleAragua. The channel's schedule is built around live sports, series (many with Venezuelan dubbing), locally produced and foreign animated series, concerts, films and documentaries. It has also been developing its own variety and regional productions. Sports coverage is a cornerstone of the brand: TLT airs national and international events, often in partnership with regional channels TeleAragua and Somos TV, the national channel Meridiano Televisión (a relationship dating back to the TVR era in 2015) and TVes since 2016. On its official website, Tele Tuya presents itself with the slogan "Somos la nueva televisión!" (We are the new television!) and highlights a mix of in-house production and acquired content. Its own productions include the midday show "El show del mediodía," the news program "El Informativo," and titles such as "La música que lidera al mundo," "Un corto viaje," "Realizadores venezolanos," "La alquimia del chef," "Emprendedores," "Más criollo que… ¡Así de bueno!," "El mundo sin palabras," "Destino artesanal," "Encuentro en el Estudio," "Arriba el humor," "Signos vitales," "Maestro de las abejas" and animated shorts. Its dramatic and series lineup includes "Relaciones complicadas," "Rasputin," "Amor bajo el mismo techo," "Anillo de rubí," "La taberna legendaria," "Amor y travesuras" and "Cicada de otoño." Children's programming features "Snowsnaps," "Briko," "Darwin y Newts," "Doctora Lil," "DinoCore," "Peque Show" and "Lucas etc." Sports programming includes Moto GP, "Pendiente de la Jugada," "Los Inmortales," "The World Sailing Show" and Club Hípico. The channel distributes its signal through streaming and more than 485 cable operators across Venezuela, according to its website. It launched its high-definition signal in test mode in 2016, although cable and satellite operators continued to carry the standard-definition feed for several years. TLT remains an active part of Venezuela's television landscape, with a brand identity centered on being "the new television" and a strong emphasis on sports rights and original production.

History

La Tele Tuya traces its origins to Televisión Regional (TVR), a Venezuelan regional channel. From mid-2015, TVR began an alliance with the regional channel TeleAragua, retransmitting its entire schedule until February 2016, when TVR was relaunched with its own programming produced by TeleAragua, while maintaining joint sports broadcasts with Meridiano TV. Shortly afterwards, the birth of TLT (La Tele Tuya) was announced, beginning a transitional stage that transformed TVR into this new network. The channel was to be presided over by Esteban Trapiello, who was president of TeleAragua. On 23 May 2016, the on-screen logo of "TVR" officially changed to "TLT." Although bumpers and identities from TVR were maintained for a time, joint sports broadcasts were promoted under the TLT brand, and by early July the bumpers were entirely those of the new channel. The channel began high-definition (HD) test transmissions in 2016, but cable and satellite operators continued to use the standard-definition (SDTV) signal for several years, reportedly due to a refusal to allow high-resolution transmission. Its programming consists of sports programs, series (mostly with Venezuelan dubbing), locally produced animated series and foreign animated series (mostly created by Jan Van Rijsselberge), concerts, films and documentaries. It has been in the process of producing its own variety programs, including regional productions. Sports remain a major pillar: the channel broadcasts national and international live events, often jointly with regional channels TeleAragua and Somos TV, the national channel Meridiano Televisión (since 2015 in the TVR stage) and TVes since 2016. Announcers have included Vladimiro Rivas (2016–2017) and César Arriba (2017–2026). By the time of its official website, Tele Tuya presented itself as "la nueva televisión" and listed a broad catalog of in-house productions, acquired series, children's animation and sports content, distributed via streaming and more than 485 cable operators nationwide.
