Overview

L.B. Foster Company (NASDAQ: FSTR) is a U.S.-headquartered company specializing in worldwide transportation and infrastructure markets. Established in 1902, it provides products and services for the rail industry and solutions to support critical infrastructure projects. The company maintains locations in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, and operates under its corporate brand as well as through standalone trading brands such as CXT Inc.

History

L.B. Foster Company was founded in 1902 by Lee B. Foster, who was 20 years old at the time. Financed with a $2,500 loan from his father, the company began by reselling used rail retrieved from abandoned and replaced railroads and urban transit systems. Foster initiated a guarantee: "If the material is not up to the standard represented, ship it back and we will pay the freight both ways." This dedication to customer satisfaction became a core company value. Between 1920 and 1970, Lee's success attracted his three brothers, Reuben, Sydney, and Byron, who all eventually joined. The company has continued for more than a century and remains headquartered in the U.S., providing rail and infrastructure solutions.
