Overview

LIQUI MOLY is a brand of motor oils, additives, gear oils, greases, pastes, car care and service products. According to the company, the LIQUI MOLY name rights and the associated patent for the oil additive containing molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) were acquired by Hans Henle, and LIQUI MOLY GmbH was entered in the commercial register on March 31, 1957. The company states that it has been developing and producing motor oils and additives exclusively in Germany since 1957 for an international market that now comprises more than 150 partner countries, and that it offers over 4,000 items from a single source.

History

According to the company history, in the post-war years a tin can containing the liquefied solid lubricant molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) was offered in US Army shops under the brand name LIQUI MOLY. Hans Henle acquired the LIQUI MOLY name rights and the associated patent for the oil additive containing molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), which the company describes as the birth of LIQUI MOLY. LIQUI MOLY GmbH was entered in the commercial register on March 31, 1957. The enterprise grew rapidly, and after just one year the company headquarters in the Donaubastion of Ulm had become too small; LIQUI MOLY opened its head office in Ulm's Olgastrasse for the sale of its first product, Kfz 1 (auto 1), based on MoS2.
