Overview

Lithium Werks is a subsidiary of Reliance and a fast-growing global lithium-ion battery company with production facilities in China and offices in the USA and the Netherlands. It provides cells, custom battery packs, and battery management systems into markets such as stationary energy storage, industrial, commercial marine, and transportation. The company was established in 2017 to enable the energy transition from fossil fuels to clean renewables, and it focuses on long-term client partnerships for powerful, inherently safe and reliable battery systems.

History

Lithium Werks was established in 2017 to enable the energy transition from fossil fuels to clean renewables, such as solar and wind power. It was founded by battery veteran Joseph T. Fisher II and entrepreneur Christian F. P. Ringvold, with the goal of creating a sustainable, modern life by providing safe, reliable and mobile energy solutions. By the end of 2017, Fisher and Ringvold had built a team of experts and secured investment. In February 2018, Lithium Werks acquired Valence Technology, followed by the acquisition of the industrial division of A123 in March 2018. These deals ensured a stable supply of battery cells from a 100% owned factory in China, for its module production facilities in the US and China, as well as ownership and licenses to more than 400 patents covering lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and high voltage battery materials. In 2019, Lithium Werks established offices in The Netherlands, The United Kingdom, Norway, the USA, and China. In 2020, it sold its Valence module and BMS assets to Lithion Power Group. Lithium Werks is now a subsidiary of Reliance and a fast-growing global lithium-ion battery company with production facilities in China and offices in the USA and the Netherlands.
