Overview
LS Models is a Belgian brand of model railway rolling stock, founded in 1992 by Daniel Piron. The company initially commissioned Belgian variants of grain wagons, Res flat wagons, DDm car transporters and ex-CIWL restaurant cars from Jouef, and later designed new models for Rivarossi, including grain wagons, MU and T2 sleeping cars and Rs bogie flat wagons. Between 1995 and 2001, LS Models also acted as the Belgian importer for several brands such as Jouef, Piko, Electrotren, Rivarossi, Lima, Arnold, Bemo and Sachsenmodelle. In 1998, LS Models began developing its own programme in collaboration with Sachsenmodelle, but the bankruptcy of the latter ended the project. In 2000, the project was revived with Heris, newly founded by Helmut Richthammer, the former CEO of Sachsenmodelle. The models were manufactured by Modern Gala in Hong Kong in HO, TT and N scales. The first models produced were the SNCB I10 coaches. Following contractual difficulties with the Chinese supplier in 2003, the company ended its commercial cooperation with Heris and had its models manufactured directly at the Modern Gala factory without intermediaries. Today, LS Models offers a wide range of highly detailed model railway products, including locomotives, coaches and multiple units, with a focus on French, Belgian, Swiss and other European railways. The official website features products such as the SBB-CFF-FFS EC 47 382 Bpm EC, BB 22200, BB 7200, AGC, BB 9400, Z 27607, CFL 3016, Grand Confort sets, CAPITOLE sets and Gotthard Panorama Express models. The brand is known among enthusiasts for its accuracy and has won numerous awards in Belgium.
History
LS Models was created in 1992 by Daniel Piron. It first had Belgian versions of grain wagons, Res flat wagons, DDm car transporters and ex-CIWL restaurant cars produced by Jouef. It then designed new models for Rivarossi: grain wagons, MU and T2 sleeping cars and Rs bogie flat wagons. During the years 1995 to 2001, LS Models also became the Belgian importer for various brands such as Jouef, Piko, Electrotren, Rivarossi, Lima, Arnold, Bemo and Sachsenmodelle. It was in 1998 that LS Models undertook the realisation of its own programme in collaboration with Sachsenmodelle. But the bankruptcy of the latter put an end to the project. In 2000, the project was revived with Heris, newly created by Helmut Richthammer, the former CEO of Sachsenmodelle. The models were manufactured by Modern Gala in Hong Kong, in HO, TT and N scales. The first models produced were the SNCB I10 coaches. The reception of these coaches and the following ones by the public and specialists was such that numerous awards were won in Belgium. Following contractual difficulties with the Chinese supplier in 2003, the company ended its commercial cooperation with Heris and had its models manufactured without intermediaries, directly at the Modern Gala factory.
