Overview
Mahsahvot (מחשבות ספרות והדרכה בע"מ) is an Israeli private company specializing in legal publishing and training. Founded in 1987 by Menachem Cohen and Ron Delomi, two law students at Tel Aviv University, the company began by producing condensed summaries of legal material for students, distributed through the Dyonon bookstore. Over more than four decades it has grown into a comprehensive legal education brand serving law students, interns preparing for the Israel Bar Association licensing exam, and practicing lawyers and judges. The company publishes legislation, study, case-law, and exam-preparation books covering core law courses, with over 58 student titles updated annually to reflect changes in legislation and case law. It also publishes about eight legislation compendiums (ogdanim) across various legal fields, updated twice a year, which are widely used across the Israeli legal profession. In addition to print, Mahsahvot offers the Mahsahvot AI system, a digital platform containing its full library of literature, case law, and legislation with an AI chat capability to assist with study, exam preparation, and legal research. Mahsahvot holds the exclusive Israeli franchise for BARBRI, the world's largest legal training company, for studies toward obtaining a US law license. The company also engages in legal placement and operates a job portal. In 2014, Kav Manche acquired 50% of Mahsahvot for 6 million shekels; the company is now owned by Kav Manche, which is controlled by the Yifat Group. It has expanded into additional fields such as accounting, real estate brokerage, and the capital market.
History
Mahsahvot was founded in 1987 by Menachem Cohen and Ron Delomi, two law students at Tel Aviv University. They developed a technique for summarizing legal material in a condensed form that included all legal rulings and rules clearly and simply. They published these summaries as booklets for students through the Dyonon bookstore and achieved success. The company later expanded to publish preparation books for the Israel Bar Association licensing exam, and at a later stage also literature for lawyers and judges. In the mid-1990s, it began conducting preparatory courses for licensing exams. Over the decades, Mahsahvot grew into a leading legal publisher in Israel. Its student books now include over 58 titles, updated annually according to changes in legislation and case law. It publishes about eight legislation compendiums across various legal fields, updated twice a year, which are widely used and serve as a common standard language for Israeli jurists. In 2014, Kav Manche acquired 50% of Mahsahvot for 6 million shekels. The company is now owned by Kav Manche, which is controlled by the Yifat Group. It holds the exclusive Israeli franchise for BARBRI, the world's largest legal training company, for studies toward a US law license. The company also engages in placement of jurists and operates a job portal. It has expanded its activities to additional fields such as accounting, real estate brokerage, and the capital market. In recent years, it introduced the Mahsahvot AI system, a digital platform containing all its literature, case law, and legislation with AI chat capabilities.
