Overview

Maritech Group is an international marine services and equipment company focused on thermal solutions and fluid handling systems for the shipping and industrial sectors. The group designs, engineers, manufactures and supplies plate heat exchangers, fresh water generators, marine pumps and separators, together with OEM-compatible spare parts, and it delivers on-site repair, maintenance and performance-restoration services through its OCEANSERV® framework. Its customer base spans commercial vessels, shipyards and industrial plants, and the company states that it supports more than 600 vessels and industrial plants annually. The business traces its origins to 1977, when Anastasios Sorokas founded Sorokas SA in Piraeus as a ship-repair enterprise. Over the following decades it added in-house mechanical engineering capability, expanded internationally with a Romanian subsidiary in 1994, and was renamed Sorokas Group SA. In 2007 management passed to Dimitris Sorokas and the group rebranded as Maritech Group, concentrating on plate heat exchangers and fresh water generators. Further expansion followed in the 2020s with the creation of Maritech Global in Singapore, warehousing in China and a facility in Croatia, and in 2026 the Greek arm, Maritech Hellas, relocated to expanded premises in the Elefsis ship-repair zone. Maritech positions itself around uptime, lifecycle extension and sustainability: rather than simply selling replacement parts, it emphasises refurbishment, stock-backed spares, quick-change rotation programmes and custom manufacturing so that vessels can avoid costly off-hire. Its Green Series and its CEO's public messaging stress lower cost, higher efficiency and environmental protection by extending the life of existing equipment. The group operates through core subsidiaries including Maritech Hellas and Maritech Global, with global stockpoints in the EU and Asia, and describes itself as ISO-compliant and certified for quality and workplace culture.

History

Maritech Group's history begins in 1977, when Anastasios Sorokas founded Sorokas SA in Piraeus, Greece, as a ship-repair business. In 1982 the company established its own mechanical engineering workshop, adding in-house technical capability to its repair operations. International expansion started in 1994 with the founding of a subsidiary in Romania and the renaming of the business as Sorokas Group SA. A turning point came in 2007, when management passed to Dimitris Sorokas and the group was renamed Maritech Group, refocusing its activities exclusively on plate heat exchangers and fresh water generators. In 2008 the company expanded its storage and production facilities in Piraeus. During the 2020s the group pursued further geographic expansion. Maritech Global was established in Singapore in 2021, and in 2022 the group created warehousing space in China and a facility in Croatia. In 2026 Maritech Group announced the relocation and expansion of its Greek arm, Maritech Hellas, to new state-of-the-art premises in the Elefsis-Mandra ship-repair zone in Greece. The group today describes itself as a global pioneer in thermal solutions and fluid handling systems, delivering 24/7 rapid-response logistics, OEM-compliant spare parts and precision-engineered repairs, and says it is trusted by more than 600 vessels and industrial plants annually, anchored in more than 50 years of expertise.
